So how do you get started with a Phase One IQ series back?
What are the most important buttons and how do they work?
The home screen on the IQ series back has four controls:
Play, Menu, ISO and White Balance.
You can select these by touching the screen with your finger,
or you can use the four external buttons if you prefer.
Both button types achieve the same result.
Once you've selected a menu item the functions of the buttons change.
The top left button always returns you to the previous menu.
Or if you hold it down for three seconds it will take you back to the home screen,
no matter where you are.
The bottom left button usually allows you to select a function
although often this isn't necessary if you use the touch screen
because the IQ back will automatically accept your selection.
The two buttons on the right let you scroll up and down the menu selections,
but with the touch screen you can do this with your fingers.
To take a photograph most of the settings are made on the camera
except the ISO and white balance.
To select the ISO
touch the ISO button and scroll up or down to the setting you want.
Then touch the setting and the IQ back makes the change
and returns you to the home screen.
You select the white balance in exactly the same way.
Don't forget to insert a compact flash card or to tether the back to a computer.
That's it, you're ready to shoot!
And once you've taken your photos press the play button on the main menu to preview them.
This is where the touchscreen is really cool,
allowing you to flick through your images with the swipe of a finger.
Would you like to check the focus?
Double-tap the area you want to inspect and the preview is enlarged to 100 percent.
It won't take you long to become completely familiar with the IQ back interface,
and once you have you'll wonder how you ever survived without it.
