I'm Kelsey Thompson, I'm a freshman, and an open major.
It has definitely made me be a lot more involved in things,
things that I would have never thought possible.
Obviously you just want to have that place that feels like home when you are here,
and going through recruitment in the first couple weeks of school,
it definitely was an instant connection to people.
It's knowing that you have people that are here for you and are going to be there for you right away!
You don't really have to struggle as a freshman to find that place where you fit in.
Hi I am Allison Kindig, I am currently a first year student here at Iowa and I am studying Industrial Engineering.
Related to Honors I participated in quite a few different activities ranging from academic and nonacademic,
for example I participated in research,
and was able to present at The Spring Undergraduate Research Festival.
I would definitely encourage everyone to get involved in the Honors Program here at Iowa,
because it is taking your own passions to the next level.
Hello, I am David Lee, the President of Kusa.
We represent the 450 Korean undergraduate students in our school.
Unlike other student associations, our group does not require membership
rather, we act more like a student government for Korean undergrads.
Our mission is to promote Korean culture on campus and also unite fellow Koreans in Iowa City.
Hi, I am Jay, I am a freshman and I am studying management of information systems
As a freshman senator, we do the typical student senate meetings,
but then as well, you take on initiatives.
Earlier this year we were on a committee that printed our tshirts, started a campaign for student government, 35
just to advertise it and how it can help students on campus
as well as throwing an event that attracted over 250 students, new and transfer, at the Winter Interim.
My name is Jared, I'm a sophomore and I am a mechanical engineering major
It entails maintaining water quality that are standards that are set by the EPA
and my goal is to make sure that at each different level, the water meets those specific standards.
What I do, I want to do something that I am passionate about and good at,
and where I don't go there for like, this is work, this is unfortunate.
I wanna go there, and be like, this is something I am doing to better my community.
My name is Savannah Hanson, I am a freshman majoring in international studies and I am from Grand Junction, CO.
When I came here I really liked 40s-50s jazz music.
Basically in the club means you go to lessons
and then every Sunday they have a free little swing dance that you can go to.
I just really have a lot of fun doing it.
I love the music and I love the clothes and the style...
I just love everything about it, so I am just in it to have fun!
It's amazing to be part of Dance Marathon.
It is the largest student run organization
that over the past 18 years, has raised over 11.2 million dollars
for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital, right here on campus.
Each year over 1500 students fundraise,
and then come together to show how they are taking a stand against cancer and dance for 24 hours!
My name is Elaine Jordan, I'm a first year here at the University of Iowa,
my major is health and human physiology.
When I first came to school, I knew I wanted to join something
and we would get emails for like new member meetings.
I got one for water skiing team and I was like why not? I want to go do that!
I went to the meeting and met everyone, it was really awesome, so I decided to join!
Pick something that you love and just go do it!
If you want to do it, there is a club for it!
