When I was growing up I was in a band.
And one of our dreams was to get our CD into the record store at the mall.
Do you remember Sam Goody?
After our band finished producing a brand new CD or tape (remember those?)
I would drive to the four or five Sam Goody stores in our city and ask the manager to
carry our album on consignment.
He’d usually agree to it and put it in the “local music” section.
The problem is, when I entered the Sam Goody store, there were so many new albums out.
I wanted to listen to so many of them.
But back then, you had to buy the album before you could listen to it.
So I would blow all the money I had
usually about 30 bucks on two or three CDs.
without even getting to preview them.
Some were good, many were not.
If only there were a way to take the whole store home with me.
For only 10 dollars a month.
Wait! Now you can.
And in this episode, I’m going to show you how.
Hey, It’s Brian Dixon and you are watching The Advance Show, your video pep talk to help
you crush it at work and step up at home.
Music is an essential part of my life.
The perfect song can help you get just the right amount of motivation for a sales call,
give you an extra dose of energy on your workout, or help set the mood on date night.
There is a music service that I have been using for over 10 years.
But, to my surprise, when I talk to friends about this service I use- most of them have
never heard about it.
In fact, most of them just listen to pandora - commercials and all.
That just doesn’t work for me.
I want to listen to a specific song on a specific album from anywhere.
And if this is what you want, you need to check out Rhapsody.
That’s right, Rhapsody.
It’s my favorite iPhone app.
Here’s why I love it.
First, it has almost everything.
If there is an album you can find in iTunes, then it’s probably on Rhapsody.
The classics, the new releases, even niches like stand up comedy and soundtracks.
Anything. And you can listen to it all for one monthly fee of ten bucks.
Second, you can download anything.
Rhapsody allows you to download songs onto your phone to listen to when you are offline.
This helps prevent you from wasting your data plan or experiencing choppy playback while
traveling.
Third, you can discover new music.
Did you know that new albums come out on Tuesdays?
Well, every Tuesday I take a few minutes to see what new albums have just been released.
But unlike iTunes, where you can only preview 30 seconds of each song, Rhapsody let’s
you listen to and download everything.
I usually check out three or four albums every Tuesday.
If I like them, they get added to my regular rotation.
If I don’t, no problem. I didn’t waste any money.
So stop wasting your time and money and try Rhapsody.
