I'm so excited that you're back to join us!
We're here at the observatory and ready to learn!
Ms. Twinkle!
Look how bright that star is!
Actually, that's not a star.
That's Venus - the second planet from the sun.
What's a planet?
Planets are spherical bodies that revolve around a star.
We're actually on one right now!
We're on the planet Earth!
The third planet from the sun!
Come on, class.
Follow me into the planetarium!
What's that!?
That's the planetarium's Zeiss Projector.
Hello!
Zeiss, would you please show us a projection of Earth?
Wow!!
Now Earth is a tiny planet
circling a star we call the Sun..
but not alone!
In our own solar system,
there are seven other planets plus the one,
that we call home!
The solar system spins around
as on their orbits planets turn.
What wonders will we find someday?
The more we look, the more we learn!
Mercury's the smallest planet,
then the hottest, Venus, storms and boils
with poison clouds!
Then there's Earth, that's the one we live on,
Mars is red from iron in the soil.
I'm always wowed!
The biggest planet is Jupiter,
then Saturn with its rings of ice.
And Uranus turns on its side,
Blue Neptune's mysteries entice.
And what's after that?
There are four known dwarf planets- Pluto, Eris, Makemake, and Humea.
After that there's the whole rest of the Milky Way Galaxy!
The Earth is so small and fragile.
Let's be sure to treat our planet well.
It's our home!
The solar system spins around
as on their orbits planets turn.
What wonders will we find someday?
The more we look, the more we learn!
