Hello Hofstra. I'm Brian, a junior television and film major, and here's what's happening
for the week of April 19th through the 25th.
Hofstra's Labor Studies Program honors National Equal Pay Day, Tuesday, hosting Lilly Ledbetter,
the key figure motivating 2009's Fair Pay Act. The event takes places at 2:20 p.m. in
the Guthart Cultural Center Theater and admission is free. For more information, visit hofstra.edu/laborstudies
Sunday, high school juniors and their families are invited to attend Spring Open House, where
you can ask students, faculty and administrators what it is truly like to be a member of this

Friday, stop by the Student Center and catch "True Life, I Grew Up in India." This Asian
Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Focus event takes place at 4 p.m. at Student Center

The Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will present a reading and book signing of
Pulitzer Prize-winning author John McPhee's new book, Silk Parachute, Saturday at 11 a.m.

The 25th Anniversary of the Dance Program at Hofstra continues with the Spring Dance
Concert, Thursday, featuring new works by the Hofstra Dance Program’s distinguished
faculty. Performances take place at the Adams Playhouse and members of the Hofstra community
get one free ticket with a Hofstra ID. For show times and tickets, call the Hofstra Box

Monday, join us online for a live Orientation video chat at 4 p.m. Find out more about New
Student Orientation, a program designed to ease the transition of new undergraduate students

Root for the Pride Baseball and Softball teams, as they both take the field on Wednesday.
The Pride men take on the Seawolves of Stonybrook University at 3:30 p.m. at University Field,
while the women host St. John's Red Storm at 4 p.m. at the Softball Stadium. Student
tickets are free with a Hofstra ID, and you can get more info at GoHofstra.com.
