It is a simple thing that makes a difference, especially with a sail boat. A lot people
who keep their boat in the water overlook a simple thing like the marine growth on your
hull. Over time, this build up can slow down the performance of the boat and actually cause
some damage, as marine growth will leach minerals into the hull itself; potentially, it will
pop out in little divides all over your expensive boat. Now if you keep your hull elevated out
of the water, or perhaps on a trailer, you can keep it smooth and efficient. All the
maintenance you would have to do is occasional sanding—a light sanding—perhaps the addition
of some Teflon of some other form of wax.
