it's
salon the phone just now
from the uh...
media group have article on wall street you may also known as don't reply its
uh... drafts
um...
once again freemen welcome
my welcome back
so i think
so uh...
all right so tell us a you were happy uh... winter garden
at the uh... world financial center there was a uh... survey spontaneous
after the uh... goldman sachs
uh... squid bit protest there was a sort of a spontaneous
uh... protest against brookfield
what happened
well i keep saying i didn't look even really sure that this was part of the
plan we've just finished doing a little
scene three do you turn in front of goldman sachs in everything with common
good
please to really respectful
and then mighty said report ended up by the group poured into the winter garden
which it is today
privately owned public space actually one of the more beautiful indoor public
spaces in new york city and it's almost feels like he uh... a gilded shopping
malls and i dont
all sort of like a league it look like people were protesting in sort of like
the uh...
uh... almost like you know that some of those ma
holes in the center where they have like a little
you know everybody gathers and sits around before they go to the t g i f
forward the everything alright
uh... and uh... so everybody's gathered in there
alright and floral rome i got they've saved there the cops and in the canine
unit
are you have a
well as we were we were in the winter garden and um...
it was it was actually uh... one of the the uh... better sort of scenes that i
tina mean there's been a lot of video of it but it's literally people dancing in
circles
and shout enchanting it was quite loud quite fun quite boisterous
and um...
it turned from a a situation where
people were
just laughing and dancing with his band of about four to five minutes where
someone from book field came out of the book with a full horn
and started announcing something that bailey anybody could hear in fact i a
video runs you know
five feet in front of him maybe three feet in front of him and you can be
remiss directional so he's spinning around in the circle telling people
um... you know if you
it's funny because we literally says
you people are occupying this space illegally
you're being forced to leave
and then you would say if you leave now
you will not be arrested include some people at least on around only heard
you will not be arrested
clover
at that point um... some people started running up the escalator and so there
was a group of about thirty people that moved up the escalator
and the cops cut off that
uh... avenue
and from the arab world
the police started just sort of grabbing people indiscriminately
anthro arrests just started to break out important that
bottom of the atrium there
and uh... so i was just standing there combing the whole thing
trying to cover as much as i could
and um... eventually i got pushed back a little bit beyond that perimeter
and then to split instance where the caption today
you don't get outta here now now it is moving to start
pushing people in every direction and i was
literally trying to run out when i got grabbed from
behind by police instead you know we got you you're going invalid
they told me explicitly that you know you got to get into
criminal trespass to shrink you guys are going down
process not just released on a dat
uh... dat
what is that which it which is just basically attacks dominant
so you don't actually have to go
down to central booking and couldn't wait for a judge
as opposed to just being released
uh... i had a time like a traffic ticket so
they intentionally i think
wanted to make people today and it certainly seems like
intentionally targeted people that were
journalist in some kind of oil
camera out
you know uses
it's indiscriminate but you know the interesting thing is
that i i think the video i'm sure he's seen it by now uh... although i also
imagine you've been doing a lot of sleeping
uh... progestin weeds
uh...
there is
uh... there was that way about seventeen of you're arrested
proactive about ten men and uh... seven women
and somewhere members but the band in had instruments but virtually everyone
else
with an independent togher for or catalyst or tweeter
or light streamers some kind of person involved in not getting the message out
and in the fascinating thing is happening
as at least a couple hundred people there
i mean so it's not like there was thirty five people and they got half of them
uh... and you can see the video of justin we jim we'll put that on our own
our our home page a majority f_m_
is of ground from behind
so he's not obviously getting into some cops face he's sitting there without
laptop he's about his immobile as you could possibly be
uh... he's still on your feet with a laptop in one hand and a camera in
another
i assume you sort of like doing those bluetooth camera things to his computers
use live streaming
and uh... he's grabbed from behind
and surges single out edgy me how much forethought ubiquitin this by the cops
or do they haven't standing or in the what what's your sense
i don't know i mean you know part of me think that maybe it was job
lockwood but when you think about it really
uh... not only did it seem intentional it just it blows my mind because how tom
can you be to not only arrest at first thing in the morning holdup all day in
straight through the night in into the next day exo connectedness cycle is
ready for a and if you go and the prime time live back next data have a still
being held
you know and then on top of that you arrest a bunch of media people that
already know how tight connect to the press and
you note we've got their stories and you know that's why you ended up with
why extreme footage still coming out the back of the paddy wagon and photographed
and you know down in the uh... so i was able to uh...
call up a prep number that we had to use google voice in we recorded uh... proper
stations and then had those out before you're even out of it
jail so
you know in in any way that almost became a opera opportunity for
and it just sort of points again to that just sort of
ineptitude in some way with uh... we'll wait
bloomberg and you can't seem to be handling it and i think bloomberg
because when we finely fourteen hours later showed up
at central booking
the first thing we heard of the phone you know picked up in the woman said you
know you have the protesters are here
so this somebody obviously
you know watching us through this whole system in treating the state separately
now what is the story uh...
and i read that
pull is that how you pronounce his name
uh... yet johnny apple don knapp full
the second half of the cousin
miles got a book uh... canal for money
and he goes back and forth it's a long story
uh... but um...
that uh... he
he read it uh... uh peace i think it was in so long
uh...
about uh... the thirty seven hours that day he was in there i presume you are
you spent a more less the same out time what's this whole thing
uh... retin a scam
well-paid sort of you noted ficient third fingerprint marge schott
they also try and force you to dua retina scan and i think they don't
really tell you up front that it's optional
you know most of us trying to do that in our lawyer confirmed that so when we
came in
virtually all of us uh... declined
to do the red stand
but at the very end of the process
after we have been waiting up for sale lawyer for you know for five hours were
finally about to go see the judge
they tried to force was once again to submitted its pakistan
and so
you know one by one people were you know going in and refusing in and getting put
back in
and finally came out of that hey listen if you pick now do you guys are gonna
submit to a just tell us now
and that
the end result was you know basically they're saying you're gonna have to
spend another night in jail don't do this
optional
retinal scan
and when we talked or lawyer she said
you know it simply been doing it for about two years i don't think anybody
has really refused them certainly not in a big number like this at this maybe
potentially important dates
you guys want to do it and
there were don't know but insiders actually only one woman who was
eighteen years old and she was refusing adamantly
while the others were fine to do it
and then want to commend you know waited amongst ourselves and virtually all of
us decided that we would go ahead and and refused to stay another night if we
had to
so um... in the end what happened was that the but the judge job
back down i definitely side it's just let us go but i would certainly willing
to
spend one more night should not have to
you know finally submit one more time for this police state
you know when for fear of punishment i mean that's what it feels like to just
he spent the typing your training uta
uh... submit to whatever kind of procedure they want to do to get a
catalog you win
you know keep track of you
well and um... and uh... but i represent know that uh...
you just like uh...
uh... with the eye doctor you do the redness can they give you a lollipop
right person like that going to be a little toy or something little
uh... well that's good so uh... how you all
used on ma san
and uh... they back down from their threat to polje
correct but they were
i mean when that the first person i went in
and refused the uh... the bailiff told and you know party in a week dish pack
he walked back toward the jail cell
and they technically have the right to hold u for seventy two hours
from the point at which you reach central booking which for us within in
toll-like you know early friday morning so well
it was you know kind of threat but again i mean you know i'm in a position where
i'm willing to to do that at this point
you know because we start giving up these rights and forget about
prosecuting wall street
we're talking about having a more first amendment right journalist can even
you know do their job we're we're releasing
such incredible backlash
onto these protests that i think
uh... hopefully i i really think this might make the
protest even more
successful because
people will see that this is is not a
at show when you start telling the truth to power and they react that way sits up
pretty much confirmation
that what we're doing is is really effective yeah i think i mean there's a
lot of things that uh...
the
uh... the occupation and the direct actions have been revealing i think
uh... both in terms of the specific issues that they're addressing
uh... you know whether it's uh... foreclosure
stop in for a school
uh... union-busting or
uh... whatever the direct actions have been about but then there's the xansa
larry aspects where
those um... you know just the military's ation of our police and the infringement
upon uh... our first amendment rights
and a whole other slew of rights
uh... and of course you get out today in u_s_ here that the president won't be
uh...
uh... vetoing this uh...
m_p_a_a_ these uh...
uh... national defense authorization act of which
once uh...
the protests get um... classified as a low level terrorists
then you can just be held indefinitely uh... retinal scan or not
at that point uh... but my understanding is that today there was
uh... some action taking place at a level as an official occupy wall
street's uh... action
to the extent that
uh... but uh...
according to our keep our wall street dot org
uh... there is a uh... defend the bills of rights for all
um...
press conference today
uh... that took place just an hour ago on the uh... streets of the uh...
the federal
uh... court and foley square
but uh... tell us what you know about that with planned for saturday which is
the three month anniversary boxed on wall street
okay and by the way the uh... the preceding cat that police were actually
also included the a_t_r_
a funeral
recession for the bill of rights
and they were the coffin
and uh... pallbearers tinto
we also uh...
tolerating so to speak or you know
paying our respects
to adjust to the uh... are great our great nation flaws
so uh... uh...
a target seventeen coming up
we are
you know what we pay the worry occupying the space really it it's more about
trying to bring a large group of people there that can be events going on on you
will see
corrected and the so-called tenting
um... exhibition where people are artists are gonna be
drawing up near open picking on them so uh... that allows us to be able to
attract tents for bernard states
and i believe is also can be a concert
uh...
that happening as well i know that uh... patti smith is
confirmed
not sure killed the other artists as well so does that mean you take their
and uh...
we also have members of the clergy
that arr
basically willing to step up and be the first ones onto the property to play we
want trinity church
to allow us to use the state uh...
build another camp and do something similar it would be a different sort of
situation than to kadhi because they would get the private space in so with
their permission
it would allow us to put up some certain chitral
and build up
uh... a map of the states in the way that we're gonna plan it'd be very
explicit about what we want to do their and use that is just and an outreach
center and you know similar some of the similar things we did
antibody so um... but we're going to trinity church is is that
you know if you're willing to the arrest your own members in the first met over
the
over the
conference is going to be uh... bishop of the episcopal church uh... uh...
decorated war hero um... and dot
we're going to be what they what they do i mean trinity church of the third
largest real estate holder in
new york city level and at the new york stock exchange sits on
is owned by trinity church
and this people and it's been undeveloped at uh... party square
sixteen canal
has in there
uh... empty for several years and i was originally given to
trudy church by queen and i think in the plea stuff
sixteenth-century
and so
we really feel like they did said the church's decision to the side whether
they want
fight for charity or or for justice
and you know churches
do a lot of charity work and they claim they've helped without you know in some
ways but a few some of those bases but
uh... mile populate corporations do charity
you know there's lots of folks
rich people that do so-called charity but fighting for chapters
as a totally different thing
and that's really what
we want and i think what a lot of members at the church feel like
you know there's so many pundits and journalists and and uh... you know
former prosecutors that it's not like they've been on the outside of
so many discussions in occupied wall street is moved it back towards the
plate
has put them in that center and i think
a certain degree the the radical clergy at the same way
the people that have actually been fighting for poor people and justice and
so much of the um oppression in the world
i felt like they've been martial arts within the church in so this is again
another opportunity i think that
take another group and and put pressure on another entity
frank turned into same
i mean it's sadness say that there are charges that have so much money in and
well that they operate flight corporations but it seems to be true to
say
that this is going to be that the next step in what we hope that that will be
replica bola mean even if this is success we know that will need more
spaces throughout new york and keep doing that so
um...
because of the next project and i think uh... whatever happens i think a lot of
always retry everything that we do to be sort of win-win scenario right or even
if the police
you know fight back against certain there's pictures of clergy in their
roads being led away in handcuffs
i think it will will make our point so i'm popping that stop for once
they figure out this p_r_ damon and let's have our first amendment right to
me that's really
the only fast
bummbly i think they can handle this is just to accept what we have to stay
and let us have our first amendment right because it's really not what we're
doing it's what we're staying that's what they hate all these activities
would be totally condoned
if we were out there celebrating the new york stock change if we were you know
we're not leaving till without its twenty thousand you know they'd be like
a ton of poor quality you need
exactly
are well i'd just *** um...
d seventeen is at twelve p_m_
blocked a square
parked which is at six to have a new in canal in new york city um...
you know well hopefully will talk to next week about tell what went down
uh...
them and uh...
uh... people should check it out d seventeen
uh... the three month anniversary of uh... uh... a bucket by wall street
and uh... just glad you amazed to your
thirty-seven hour ordeal safely
