Hello everyone and welcome to a new videoreview!
Today I'm reviewing a model I've owned for almost five years now
I bought it back in 2008 in a shop in France
Being a hardcore "Back to the future" fan
I couldn't help getting it
especially because it was quite cheap
It's a 1:18 scale DeLorean
from the second movie of the Back to the future trilogy
this version is featured in the second movie
in which Marty Mcfly,
his girlfriend and the looney Dr. Emmett Brown
travel to the future
in 2015 if I'm not wrong
Let's take a closer look
I'm leaving it in the box for now
to show you all the sides
on the front we read "Back to the future"
here "Time machine"
here is the scale, 1:18
the manufacturer, Sunstar
On the top
the dashboard and some time destinations
here the "Outatime" license plate
and the Delorean doing the time leap
on both sides there's a combination of the illustration of the front and the top side
On the bottom
as usual some notices
and specs
On the rear side
there is a synopsis of the story of the movie
you can pause and read thoroughly anytime
the car is in a window box
allowing to see all the main details
In the backgroud there is this sparkle effect
and a famous quote from the movie
reading with a stupid voice
I'm not telling when this line is said to not spoil you the movie
As you can barely see
the car is on a black plastic stand
let's take it out of the box
I'm opening this side
I found it easier
because the flaps of the cardboard
make it hard to slide it out smoothly
so I open both the sides and I push one side and pull the other
I'm a pusher :)
there you go
let's unscrew the four screws under the base
here it is in all its glory
now let's take a look
let's start from the bottom
and we'll soon notice a switch
allowing to tilt the four wheels
not very much smoothly I must say
to switch form street mode to flight mode
the wheels have nice rubber tires
the car is quite heavy for its size
I'd say it's made of about 60-80% metal
all the details are very realistic
here there's a working hood
the windscreen wipers
and the signature gull-wing doors
the model shines in the accuracy of the details
inside you can see the dashboard
and the dates for the time leap
I'll use my phone to better show you
I don't know if you can see
the famous flux capacitor
between the two seats
that is the main component that allows the time travel
Let's move backwards
we can see all the components
pipes and electrical wiring I guess
here is the famous mr. fusion
I don't know if you can see
this blender-like thing
that fuels the Delorean
Partially or completely, I'm not sure
by inserting any type of residual material
in the movie cans, banana peels and stuff
here is the license plate that reads "OUTATIME"
featured in the first movie
so actually Sunstar made a mistake here
because the second version of the DeLorean
shows some mirrored rectangles here
it's a shame Sunstar...
Let's take a last tour of the details
nice front lights with the DMC logo
all life-like
The price progressively raised in the past few years
I paid it €20 or so back then
now it's sold at €70-80
it's a must have for all the hardcore BTTF fans
and anyone into medeling
should have it in their collection
it is really worth it
the quality is top notch
the other two versions of the car
are the one from the first movie with the rod on the back without the tilting wheels
the one from the third movie on the other hand
being set in the 18th/19th century
has train wheels
and there's a device on the hood here
that makes it move on the rails without needing gas
