(Reporter) "What's your area of profession?"
(Double agent, Luo-bin) "Intelligence work."
(Reporter) "Do you work for Taiwan? Or do you work for China?"
(Double agent, Luo-bin) "Both."
(Reporter) "Do you work for both sides?" (Double agent, Luo-bin) "Yes."
This is 41-year-old Luo-bin, a Taiwanese double agent disguised as a businessman in China.
This footage was shot in November, 2010, when he was arrested in Taiwan.
He is a former officer for Taiwan's Military Intelligence Bureau.
He previously worked as an assistant to Colonel Luo Chi-cheng (not related).
He started his work as a spy in October, 2005, collecting intelligence regarding the Chinese military.
He was caught by the Chinese in 2007.
He was tortured for 15 days.
To protect himself, he agreed to act as a double agent and spy for China.
He bribed his former superior, Colonel Luo Chi-cheng.
Luo Chi-cheng has tipped Luo-bin with Taiwanese military intelligence for a total of 13 times.
Luo-bin would go to Hong Kong to relay the information to Chinese officials.
The Chinese would then supply Luo Chi-cheng with false intelligence.
He was paid roughly $140,000 USD in total.
The two have long been under investigation by Taiwan's Military Intelligence Bureau.
In November, 2010, Luo Chi-cheng was seen handing something resembling to payment to Luo-bin.
The two were arrested right away.
The military court announced yesterday, that
the two have been charged with crimes in violation of the Military Law and the Corruption Act.
