To add simple titles to your sequence, you can use the Text effect.
In the Effects tab, choose Video Generators > Text and then select one of the
text generators such as the Lower 3rd.
Drag it to the canvas and choose Superimpose from the options.
The titles are superimposed over your existing video.
Double click the text in your Timeline and then click the Controls tab to
replace the placeholder text. Note the additional options from modifying
the Font, Style, Size, Tracking and Font Color. You can even keyframe these over time.
Bear in mind, of course, this is really very basic text, useful for slates
and temporary titles. Be sure to watch the Motion Essential Training
course on the lynda.com Online Training Library to learn how to create more
elaborate text effects using Motion and Motion Templates.
