Hi I'm Craig Sigl, the Mental Toughness Trainer. In this short clip Coach Mando,
who runs Quick Handle Basketball Training, talks about how to instill
courage and that never-give-up attitude in your play.
You've got to speak to the heart.
One mentor told me this one time, he said, "Coach,
I know you get
frustrated because you want everybody
to be great,"
and that'll probably never change in me,
but said, "You've got to remember you've got to speak to the burning heart
and i think what you have to do is you have to come indirectly
but deal with the problem. Like, for me,
being a trainer and a coach for so many years,
I believe entitlement is very big.
That means
that you expect something without giving so
and so what i'm going to deal with is I'm going to ruffle your feathers
every time I'm around you,
but i'm not going to do it in a personal way to attack or demean you as a person,
but I'm going to call you out and I'm going to let you know that I know that
I know
and you know that I know that you're not giving forth.
But yet,
I believe that you've been created to give a lot more that you're giving
right now,
and this is something that sparks kids,
it changes kids. I talk about, a lot of times, putting all of your eggs in one basket.
I mean in other words
you're selling all out,
everything out on the line
because you're not fearing consequences. You shouldn't fear consequences.
And so whether you're doing a drill
that's how you should react
You're not looking here or there. We always say your only mirror is coach.
You don't worry.
See, your letting people get in your diamond. C'mon man, stay focused.
Capture your energy right now,
give it everything you got.
So did you like that?
