now were going to talk about the dish network duel tuner box. this is a 622 like a 722 HD
DVR. different color not as much hard drive. the duel tuner box all operate the same way
so i have a tv one remote and a tv 2 remote so the tv 1 remote is a ir remote and the
tv 2 remote is a uhf remote. So the UHF remote talks to the box through an antenna. it is
either on the back of the box or moved into the tv 2 location and we can get into that
process in a bit. so the tv 1 is IR meaning infrared meaning it needs a direct line of
sight to change the channels and it operates that way, so the tv2 remote is a UHF remote.
so if we hit the menu button with the tv 1 remote the remote is addressed to the box
and the way to change the remote address is to go to menu 6-1-1 to system information.
when you get to system info you will have umm tv1 and tv2 so here is the channel out
and here is th2 channel out 60 for the tv 2 location on this one its sometimes 72 also
on tv1 if i change the channel to 60 i can watch what is on tv 1 from tv 2 by enabling
shared view. the remote address is 1 of 13 different addresses and this one is set at
5 the remote address on the ir remote tv 1 is set at 1 they are all set at one by default.
so if two neighbors nest to each other both just get dish network service and they both
have duel tuner boxes the tv 2 remote commonly will change each others channel if on the
same address. so you have to make this tv two remote address specific to your house.
by changing this remote address to a different channel. so were going to change it from 5
to 2 and we do that by holding the satellite button down until all the top lights light
up. then were going to press the number 2 then were going to press the # sign flickers
three times i am now going to hit the record button. so i just hit the record button and
it changed to 2 , so now this remote is programmed to this box. if you have two dual tuner boxes
in your house when you do this you need to go to the other dual tuner box and take off
the antenna or it will change both of them to 2 and they will change each others channel.
this is a common problem that people need to address here and there. I am now going
to flip this box around. pull the number one remote out and click done and go into the
modulator and the dual tuner tv 2 setting , i am on 60 air and 62 air for tv 1 out.
so at the tv2 location i can push 62 on the tv and i can watch this what is playing on
tv1. i can then change my channel to 60 and watch whatever i want. unless something is
recording to that tv2 tuner. it will be right here now the other thing that complicates
the dual tuner box is the mode button, i am in single mode. so in single mode i can watch
two things at the same time by hitting the picture and picture button. i can make it
bigger , smaller , side by side. i can swap those two and swap them back i can move the
square around, so to move it from single mode to dual mode i need to hit the mode button
and its in this door. and now i have tv 2 lit and tv1 in duel mode. single mode what
i playing on tv 1 is also playing on tv2. I can take the tv2 remote to ensure our remote
address works by hitting the big red button and seeing if the blue tv2 light goes on and
off. so i now know its controlling tv 2 from here. and how that works is through a UHF
antenna so if i flip this around i can explain how the wiring works a little bit and were
going into some detail here that you may or may not need to know about. but you have a
coax feed for tv2 out all the way in the house and upstairs is the tv 2 location it doesn't
get a good signal so i hooked up a splitter where the antenna would go, a jumper from
the tv2 out and the antenna hookup to the two way splitter and from the splitter I have
hooked it into the diplexer. although commonly now your going to have a triplexer which is
these two combined into one splitter looking thing. triplexer replaces the diplexer and
the separator. the separator allows you to get satellite one and satellite two for the
two tuners. the triplexer replaces both of them so you only need the triplexer. you are
going to take the line out for tv2 and put it into the splitter and in the other room
you are going to come from the wall into a splitter and on one side of the splitter you
will have a jumper to the tv and on the other side of the splitter you will have the tv2
antenna. that moves the tv2 antenna into the tv 2 location so the remote works. it eliminates
the problem of the unresponsive remote pointing it all over. trying to find the sweet spot
bouncing it off mirrors and here we have hdmi out. so this box doesn't have a coax out for
tv1 and that is how to use the dual tuner box , change your remote address and solve
tv2 issues. so sometimes people call me and its on single mode i'm changing the channels
in the other room the two tvs are stuck on the same channel well they are watching the
same tuner that is why, so check to make sure your in duel mode and if one of the other
boxes in the house is a dual tuner box the two tv twos are controlling each others channels
the remote addresses are the same for one of the remotes and is changing both tv 2 tvs.
or it could be a neighbor and as you fix yours it messes up theirs and back and forth. at
some point someone needs to remove their antenna when the other addresses their remote and
vise versa. that issue is something that i have never had to knock a neighbors door to
find out. but that is the tv2 and how to address the remote, i hope that helps , its easy to
fix if you know how and its frustrating when you don't know how to fix the issues. I hope
that that eliminates your frustration.
