In the midst of these warnings, Brits can expect temperatures to soar over the 3C mark this coming weekend
Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said: “We expect slightly fresher conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday, although temperatures will still be above-average, it is getting warmer again at the weekend
“In the north and in parts of the west including Wales there will be some showers over then next couple of days but by Wednesday lunchtime we are back to clear skies and dry weather across the country
“This weekend we are looking at temperatures of 3C (86F) or 3C (87.8F) again. “There is little prospect of any rain anywhere after Wednesday, the whole of the south and east are looking fine, dry and very warm through next week
” Many will be hoping for a small respite before the month is out, but it seems unlikely that even that will happen
Temperatures will rise again in ernest as August approaches, and will continue to do so as the month progresses
Exacta forecaster James Madden said: “In the second half of [August] there is high confidence summer will end with a monster heatwave
” The forecaster did admit however, that the incoming cooler theme could bring much-needed respite to parts of the country

“Some very warm or hot spells could develop in the south at times, but these would bring an increased risk of thunderstorms
”
