The first way we're going to make our paddle more sturdy is by putting masking tape along
the handle where it's going to have a tendency to bend. The way we do this is we start from
the top of the handle as close to the round head as possible and we start rolling it around,
rolling the masking tape around the handle. We roll it around a few times, it doesn't
matter if it goes over one particular area a few times, that will just help make it more
sturdy. And we just continuously go around, once we've hit the bottom we can tear it off
and then actually start over again from the top or work our way back up. We just fold
the piece over that we've ripped off and we should go ahead and put another few pieces
on different areas where we want to strengthen or just start rolling it up again up the entire
handle and it should just be done according to feel. When you feel that the handle's actually
getting more sturdy, you see that its ability to bend has decreased. When you feel that
it's going to give a nice strong hold basically where the handle and the round head meet is
the most important part. So just keep doing that and when you feel that it's, it has a
nice firm hold you can go ahead and just rip the tape and tuck it under and that should
hold your paddle really nice and strong and prevent it from bending. The tape also gives
us a bit of a thickness to the handle and makes it much easier to hold because the cardboard
is very thin so that you can also keep that in mind, you can wrap it around a few times
not only to make it more sturdy but also to give it a nice fit inside your hand. So I've
shown you how to make the paddle a little bit more firm by putting masking tape around
the handles.
