In the Name of Allah the Most Beneficient the Most Merciful
The topic coming now in the Quran is very important.
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me.
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
No! This is not the case
What problem do you see with this
No shirk is involved
He did not say that the blessings given to me are from some goddesses
Instead: My Rabb (Allah) has honoured me
and if there are any shortcomings then my Rabb (Allah) has dishonoured me.
Therefore Tauheed is intact
There is no mention of any Aalihah ie. Gods or Goddesses.
Allah is the one who honoured me and he is the one who has humiliated me.
Oh Allah you are the one who honours at will and you humiliate at will
So what is the matter or problem with what was said?
The problem is that
whatever you get or obtain in this world, do not see it as honour, it is infact a means of testing
and if you ever have shortcomings then do not see it as humiliation, it is also a means to test.
They are equal in this respect
If you see it as respect you have been decieved
If you see it as humiliation then you have also been decieved
Even if your Tawheed remains intact
But we must see Tawheed as the root or foundation and there are stages of guidance which are above it
These are tests. The common word in both is (Ibtilaah) "test or try".
When his Lord tests him and with this test gave him honour as a means to see whether he is thankful and does he give people their rights or not
This is not honour. Honour is given when you have completed the test of this life.
You will only find out on Judgement day whether it was honour or not
If someone has been tested with rationing or tightening of provisions then it is a test to see whether the person is patient or not.
does he after becoming discontent start begging infront of people?
The truth or reality comes out does not it?
So it is a test
So understand that having luxuries, pleasure and comfort is a means to test
Likewise problems, labor and struggle in this life is also a means to test someone.
Both have become equal. Furthermore, there is also another stage of guidance above this.
We have it in our minds that the first test (of having luxuries) is easy and the second test hard.
No, the reality is in fact the opposite
The first one is difficult! Being in the surroundings of wealth and luxuries tends to make you forget.
You heard the hadith earlier...
If you have excess then you are more likely to forget about Allah, so the real test and loss is this.
And if you are getting in piecemeal then you are more likely to remember Allah all the time.
On this, take a note of the story of Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (Rahmatullahi Alayhi).
That when he was beaten s severely that it was aid that even if the elephant was beaten with such severity it would have become disconsolate.
No tear was seen in his eyes at that time.
When did they (the tears) come?
When a messenger came with a gift from the King. He started crying saying Oh Allah, I am not capable of handling this trial.
This trial is more intense and severe
So this is the gradual process.
So even guidance has steps or stages. The first of them being that whatever is given is from Allah
If there are shortcomings or excess/luxuries then they are from Allah. Your Tawheed remains intact.
However, there are further stages above that.
They are trials, the both of them.
And the test of excess and luxuries is difficult and the test of having shortcomings and rationing is easier.
And the test of excess and luxuries is difficult and the test of having shortcomings and rationing is easier.
