Hey guys, Naomi here with your Fix for Thursday, October 20th.
Variety is reporting that Sony Pictures is in final negotiations to acquire the screen
rights for the film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed. Ubisoft still wants to maintain creative
control over the movie, which is always a good idea if you ask me. Sony Pictures, who
also brought us Spider-Man and current James Bond films, is also working on film versions
of Uncharted and Infamous. Hopefully Hollywood will shock us all by producing a good video
game movie-adaptation for a change. It also looks like the AKIRA remake has finally
been given the green-light. After many years in development, Warner-Brothers is finally
pushing forward with the project to adapt Otomo’s highly acclaimed animie to a live-action
film. Variety is reporting that the film finally has a director, with Tron Legacy star, Garrett
Hedlund in position to take on the roll of Shotaru Kaneda.
In DLC news, Microsoft has detailed the second download pack for Gears of War 3 despite the
first one has yet to release. Gears’ Creator Cliffy B says the downloadable pack, titled
“RAAM’s Shadow, will be “the biggest DLC release [they've] ever made." It will
also be a prequel to the original Gears of War and will offer three whole hours of gameplay.
Characters from Gears of War 1, 2, and the graphic novels will all be playable, as will
General RAAM, the final boss of the first game. RAAM’s Shadow will be available for
download on December 13th for 1200 Microsoft Points.
