Momiji: Haaa... I'm beat~~
As the sun begins to set, Satomura stretches and yawns, sounding throughly satisfied.
Reiji: Haha, we had fun, even if we didn't get to see everything.
Momiji: Maybe so, but we still conquered over eighty percent of what was there!!
Reiji: It seems so. Thanks to Satomura, I got to learn a lot about that mall.
Momiji: Eheehe, me too.
Momiji: Although if we could have been there at night, it would have been the best romantic date ever.
Reiji: ...Probably.
Momiji: ...Nn...
While I certainly would have liked to see everything there was to see, we had to leave the mall before night came about.
Although I'm sure we both wanted to say something, it appears neither of us can do it, afraid of interrupting this atmosphere.
Yes... This date was merely my attempt to apologize for being rude... This wasn't a real date, such as one between lovers.
Momiji: ...One, two, three, whoo!
Suddenly, while she had been walking alongside me, Satomura begins to bounce up and down, than bounces in front of me.
Momiji: Hey, Reiji. There's someplace I'd like to go to before the end.
She turned around and proposed this question to me.
Reiji: Hey, you're the one in the leading role today... Lead on.
Momiji: Nn. Thank you.
When I agree, Satomura gives me a beaming smile.
With that, I follow the young woman in front of me in silence.
Even though she gives the impression that she is always one to speak her mind, she's surprisingly silent, and I feel as if
she's drifting in loneliness, somehow.
But this girl, she always has a smile for me. She talks to me, even though she's not used to doing so...
Reiji: This place is...
The place where Satomura took me to end our date was an unexpected one, to say the least. It was my favorite place.
Momiji: ...Pretty...
Satomura than does what I always do, pressing her hand against the trunk of the large sakura tree as the setting sun
shines overhead.
That lonesome existence I had been feeling for a while... it looked beautiful.
Reiji: ...Satomura.
And so, I end up muttering her name.
To answer her seriousness, I have to be just as serious.
Momiji: What is it, Reiji?
When she hears my voice, she turns and looks back at me.
The scene in front of me was like one out of a fairy tale, as Satomura quietly watched me.
Reiji: Sorry.
Momiji: Huh?
Reiji: I'm the one at fault here, Satomura. I... don't know you that well. I don't think I could come to like someone, let
alone love them without at least finding out more about them.
Momiji: ...Nn...
Reiji: But despite that, I think there's a part of me in my heart that likes you.
Reiji: Until today, I never even thought about taking your feelings seriously.
Momiji: ...Yeah, I kinda knew that, but I still couldn't help it.
Momiji: I used to not believe in it either, love at first sight. Than I saw you, and...
Momiji: ...No, those feelings I thought were love weren't real. ... I didn't think I would ever fall in love again.
I'm certain that she is telling me something she's never shared with anyone before. These are her true feelings.
Perhaps, Satomura has been in love before...
Momiji: I actually love this place.
Momiji: I've been coming here for a long time. Since many years ago...
Momiji: But my reason was because I was disgusted with the way I acted as a woman... Gosh, I'm so stupid.
Reiji: Eh?
Momiji: There was a boy who came here all the time too.
Momiji: I always thought that he was coming home from work or something... but every evening that boy
would smile, just watching this sakura tree.
Momiji: I don't know why, but I never went and talked to him. Perhaps I was afraid of upsetting the mood... But now that we
came here, I've pretty sure that wasn't the reason.
Reiji: (Hoarse gasp)
Momoji: However, I just didn't have the courage, because we didn't know each other.
I was sure he would think I was wierd, or something.
Momiji: I'm pretty sure that's why I always hid... So, I always watched him from far away.
Reiji: ...
Momiji: However, one day he stopped visiting this place... Nevertheless, I continued to come here like an idiot.
Momiji: I kept thinking, 'maybe I'll see him there today'... I came when it rained, when it was windy, I came day after day...
I always came here.
Momiji: Finally at the end of the season, I realized it. I surely "loved" that boy.
Momiji: That was my first love... Silly, right?
Reiji: Satomura...
This is something she hasn't told anyone, something that she has kept secret, and I'm completely awestruck.
Yes. Because I also... I always came to this place as well, before I left the island.
Momiji: In hindsight, I believe I thought that you looked just like him, Reiji. ...But I think I just misunderstood.
Because now that I think of it, I can't really remember what he looked like.
Momiji: Really... How could I forgot something important like that?
Reiji: ...
Momiji: And than? That was when I decided. If I ever feel in love again, I would come back here... That I would never regret
not acting on my love like before.
Momiji: Even if he thought I was strange... Even if we didn't know each other, I wasn't going to just watch from far away this time.
Momiji: I would walk beside him, and we'd walk together forever... That's the kind of love I wanted.
Momiji: If anyone got in-between us, I would fight tooth and nail to stay with him, even defy fate if I had to,
in order to stay with him.
Momiji: That's what I decided.
Reiji: ...Ah.
I do nothing other than accept every word she says, because Satomura is being so serious, and thus I understand the beginning
of everything now.
No matter how shy she is around me, she really is straight-forward, and her feelings have reached me.
She always believed her feelings would reach me, even if she had to take out everyone that tried to prevent them from doing so,
and to do that requires a lot of hope.
Maybe Satomura instinctively knew it, but because she couldn't do anything before, this time she wanted to make sure she
wouldn't have any regrets.
Momiji: Reiji...
She looks straight at me, a strong will glowing behind her eyes.
Momiji: I...
Momiji: I...!
Momiji: I like you, Reiji. I love you!
Momiji: From the moment we first met, I've liked you. There's no doubt in my mind, this feeling has to be love.
Momiji: While we talked, I became certain of it. Even as I persued you and troubled you...
Momiji: And than today, we went out on a date, and I fell more and more in love with you because of it.
Momiji: Even though I was late, you gretted me with a smile. You said I was cute, and gave me other compliments.
And at the resturant, I could do nothing but follow your lead...
Momiji: You were so gentle and nice, Reiji... I can't help but love you!
Reiji: ...
The moment she opened her mouth, all of Satomuras' feelings poured out like a river.
Everything she said was because she loved me.
She's really straight-forward... Even with this confession.
Momiji: Thus, I was really happy you went out with me. But...
Momiji: This time, I want to go out together as genuine lovers. I want to walk side by side with the person I love.
Reiji: ...
Momiji: Therefore...
Momiji: Therefore, please go out with me!
Momiji: I want to be the one most important to you, Reiji!
Reiji: Satomura...
Satomura desperatly clutches at her pendant, almost as if asking for someone to give her courage as she stares at me
with unshakable eyes, waiting for me to answer.
I've definetly come to understand what kind of person she is within the past few days.
She's straight-forward, and kind of clumsy... but she believes in herself, and has an unshakable will to back it up.
It is a strength that is also a fault, as she can't seem to rely on others.
Yes. Since the first time we met, she's always been like this. She's always appeared as if she's been watching me from afar.
Momiji: Reiji...
Reiji: ...
Hope and fear pool together in the eyes of the woman who watches me.
When I see Satomura like that, I...
