There are also scenarios where you
might have both aiding and abetting and a conspiracy.
For example, the beer run.
You drive to the convenience store.
You agree to wait in the car.
Your friend is going to go inside and grab
a 12-pack of beer.
You're aiding and abetting because you're
driving the vehicle and assisting and facilitating
the commission of the crime.
You're also guilty of conspiracy because you
agreed to drive them to the convenience store
so they could grab a 12-pack of beer without paying for it.
Now, if you find yourself in a situation
where you may be encouraging or facilitating
the commission of a crime, you can actually
withdraw from the role of aiding and abetting
if you declare, to all those involved
in the commission of the crime, that you no longer will
participate.
And you notify the authorities.
The same applies to a conspiracy.
You can withdraw from the conspiracy
if you let your intention be known that you're not
going to participate and if you notify the authorities.
