The concept for my space is to have a beachy kind of vibe,

a toned-down turquoise in the main room, and then purple in the bedroom.
I've been in hotels personally where it's like, "Man, I want this in my house."
That's what you want here.
I gotta bring amazing levels of sophistication to this last challenge.
I'm just pickin' up from the vibrancy of the place.
I'm trying to go for a resort modern,

I'm thinking...Polar White or Dreamcatcher.

I really want to win this competition, so I have to prove that

How are you?
The "Property Brothers" come in, and they are

My inspiration is Versailles.
That is different than what anybody else is doing, so that's good.
So you're gonna walk in with this damask on the walls,
black ceiling, and then bam! Open up to Versailles.
Does that not scare you that the first impression

Um, no--I think, because I'm mixing it with mid-century modern furniture,
with that combination I think is what's gonna set my space apart.
That's gonna go in the bedroom.
Okay.
Most resorts do have wallpaper everywhere--
usually it's something that's a little more subtle.
Right.
or you're gonna lose this whole competition.

Right.
So any questions you have for us at the end of this for that camera challenge,
please pick our brains, because I want you to do your best.
All right, have a good one.
This is kind of cool.
After the "Property Brothers" leave, we all head out shopping so we can
keep grabbing pieces for this humongous suite.
Oh, yeah--I think this is it.
And then Abby and I stop at the carpet store.
I decided to go with a carpet treatment for my bedroom.
Just around the outside, say, in the sterling, and run the inside...
in the silver.
I'm a graphic designer, so I want the floor to really have a cool, graphic pattern.
Really different.
I'm gonna get that.
While I'm out shopping, Cija is working on
the fireplace in the main room,
and I'm going to look for artwork for the dining room.
I have a huge wall to fill.
I found this selection of
wonderful, pop art,
which I'm going to use to create a fabulous gallery wall.
The panel is either gonna super love it or pick it apart.
I'm heading back to the resort.
The wallpaper guys wallpapered in the bedroom,
and the painters worked on the main room.
I can't wait to see how it looks.
Oh, dude!
This looks so good!
The paint color and the gold moldings
turned out exactly as I envisioned it.
That's perfect.
When I get back to the space,
the wallpaper that I chose is completely installed in the main area,
and it just looks awesome.
So let's get paintin'.
I'm a do-it-yourself kind of guy,
and since the day's coming to a close, I want to start painting my space.
Wow, that is freakin' turquoise.
It looks like something I would choose for more, like, a little girl's room.
It's wrong.
I'm really bummed out right now.
I am not gonna turn this room in with that color.
That's just terrible.
As much as I don't want to be painting first thing in the morning,
this is crucial-- this will kill this room if I don't change it.
There's no way it's gonna get in here.
Your final camera challenge.
You want to reach through that camera and hit every viewer.
If I blow this, all the work that I did
on the whole season would be for nothing.
We have to do this.
It's the beginning of Day 3, and I'm really stressed
that yesterday's paint pick was, like, all the way wrong.
It looks like a little kiddie play center,
so last night, I decided to change the paint color.
Guys, we have new paint!
Oh, great, great.
Abby comes in with the new paint color.
Uh oh.
Oh, that's so much better.
Ah!
Thankfully, it's a darker tone, more sophisticated.
Much better! I really like this color.
It looks teal, but it's gonna feel a little darker.
After my painting debacle, I'm feeling kind of strapped for time,
so I have to paint as fast as I can right now.
We have about six hours to go,
and everybody is working to get this room complete.
A little bit of a struggle getting this table in here--it's gonna be...
tricky...um...
Tobin comes in and says that the table
is not fitting up the stairs and around the corner.
I'm bugging out.
No.
I didn't think to measure the door-- that's my stupid fault.
It is crucial that I get
this dining room table into this space.
Otherwise, I'm just gonna go home and save everybody from all the embarrassment.
I have to figure out something quick.
It's totally awesome.
The gold molding is going up, which is just adding a great architectural element.
On the rug, just the front two...yep, good.
Anne and I are arranging the furniture into the space so I can see how it works,
because I don't want to be scrambling at the end.
I kinda liked this red table here, did you?
Yeah.
I'm using this yellow couch, and it's gonna create
a huge impact for the living room.
My biggest concern about my design is
the way that I combined
this Victorian aesthetic and the mid-century modern.
That is a really tricky balance,
but I didn't come here to play up Palm Springs,
I came here to put a new twist on Palm Springs.
This is literally the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in.

Right here.
There's so much furniture comin' in, it's not even funny.
Ted--push it out over the rail.
because we've got a lot of furniture to get in here.
Oh, yeah.
I head into the bedroom suite, and it looks great.
This carpet that I picked out, it's got a great little graphic pattern,
and with half in the charcoal and half the carpet in the silver,
it'll just balance out my purple wallpaper.
Normally I wouldn't go with a purple for a wall,
but this one has a little silver iridescence
in it--it's textural, it's unexpected.
You're right, you're right, you're right.
It looks good.
After a number of attempts to get
the dining room table into this suite...
Does it come apart?
the only solution we have is we gotta take it apart.

Okay, this way?
All right, okay.
We have to lift this table up and over the balcony
and hopefully into the suite.
It looks like it's goin' in-- thank you so much!
Thank the lord-- I feel so relieved.
After the drama with the table,
I look over at the fireplace,
and it's finally coming along.
This is the funkiest fireplace, I don't know, you probably ever built, isn't it?
It's...I would say it's pretty close.
It makes the room interesting and gives a real sense
of the mid-century modern that is Palm Springs.
I like it.

mid-century modern design meets contemporary current.
I love the seating area
with this oversized, tufted ottoman
and this giant brass tray-- really well done.
I loved that she put a faux fireplace in.
I think it's very Palm Springs of her to do that.
(David) There's fireplaces everywhere here.
What I really love is the mix of colors in here.
That gallery wall doesn't take itself too seriously,
and that's just like the town that we're in, so I do think it works.
I do think that the dining table
and chairs assortment is a bit predictable.
It doesn't feel quite
as sophisticated as I know she really is.
All right, this is her bedroom.
(Vern and Genevieve) Wow.
The bedroom--I wanted to do something very subtle,
something very restful and soothing.
Well, I definitely get the palette--the aqua and the white,
quintessentially Palm Springs.
Who wants to get out of bed and step onto a jute rug?
[laughter]
I really want to dive into that bed right now--
(Genevieve) I love the accent pillows.
Well, I think overall, she did a really good job.
I can't believe how much she accomplished in such a short amount of time.
So this is a suite designed by Jeribai.
I wanted to show the panel that I can go more of an elegant direction
instead of it always being masculine.
I think the overall color palette is easy, it's simple.
There's a little bit of a void here, otherwise...
A little void? It's a giant void.
[Genevieve gasps]
It looks perfectly done.
Normally people don't have an orange couch,
so I think it was really bold for him to do that paired with the blue.
It does say vacation.
I mean, if you're coming here to relax, you wanna relax on that.
Let's go check out the bedroom.
Here's the bedroom.
Well, I love the wallpaper, I love the purple,
I do, too--I love it.
There is a reason why hotels put printed carpets
in their hotel rooms, because it hides the dirt,
but this is not good hotel carpet.
This is gonna require a lot of cleaning.
I think there are a lot of really great, sophisticated moments
in here, though, that really speak to luxury and that feeling of escape.
So that was Jeribai's bedroom.
(Genevieve) Whoa!
This is the suite done by Brooks.
I really want that wow moment at the entry.
I was just really going for it, staying true to my vision,
and really showing them another side of my design style.
You can still tell that his hand is at work here,
but it's a totally different style.
All right.
Wow, I see, just like,
the over-blinged and the gilded along with
a lot of mid-century merging,
which is a little cookoo but pretty fun.
Yeah.
I love the color of it, I love the lines of it,
but this wall color with that molding takes this down several levels.
I love the bench, however, this chair set
with this table is such a bummer.
It seems very dated.
I am absolutely in love with the bar area.
It's his quirkiness, but with everything
that makes Palm Springs so special.
Yes.
Whoa!
The wallpaper is a lot-- it's very dramatic.
I like that he wanted to go with a themed room,
but he has to take into consideration who the customer is here.
Imagine if these walls were light, and we had
this bed popping off along with half the stuff in here,
'cause those are such strong, beautiful pieces.
I love the headboard-- I think it's
(David) Beautiful.
The chaise is amazing.
I think he has been super successful at really
honing in on all the great vintage that is available here in Palm Springs.
So that was the suite done by Brooks.
You know, we're all exhausted,
and I could feel you, in the other spaces,

Now my absolute favorite thing and the focal point of this space
is this multifunctional fireplace.
Right now, I have candles set in there,
but you can also install an electric fire burner
for those wonderful movie nights.
Now in the bedroom-- I turned the color scheme
way down to make this a restful retreat.
Now just remember-- when you're choosing a resort,
make sure it suits your personality.
It's very, very easy to listen to you-- we want to be with you,
we want to hear the words coming out of your mouth.
Right.
but I've seen marked improvement,
Thank you.
All right, Brooks-- you're up.
Welcome to Versailles in the desert.
Now, I've combined vintage with
mid-century modern furniture, which is killer,
like this gold light or these gold bananas,
[laughter]
This lounge, social space, which has this
low light fixture, creates a really intimate space.
Now, to recreate the Versailles look in the bedroom,
I went crazy with big, bold patterns and textures,
like adding this wallpaper on all four walls.
Now I'm gonna sit back and relax while you enjoy the show.
[laughter]
Yeah!
You're super fun, you have great energy.
You delivered more information than you've ever delivered correctly.
Thanks so much.
Let's move on to the design challenge.
So Jeribai, let's start with you.
If I had to sum up your entire space in one word, it would be soothing.
Your color palette was wonderful.
The main piece of successful design was that couch.
The color wasn't a color that we typically see in a sofa,
but it was just right.
I saw your accessorizing in the bookcase--
Thank you.
I thought you were lacking one giant piece in the middle,
but overall, I thought you did a really great job.
Let's move on to the bedroom.
The bed you chose was such an incredible anchor piece.
The carpet, although really beautiful, was super light,
Right.
But overall, all of your selections really hit the nail on the head.
All right, Tiffany,
it's time to talk about your final design.
I loved your space.
(Sabrina) The fireplace was phenomenal-- I think it needed that architectural detail
because it was just this huge box.
I love the gallery wall.
(David) I loved all the art.
The dining room was almost airport corporate.
It was the fabric on the chairs, the colors of the chairs,
and we had lost that playfulness that existed everywhere else.
Let's talk about the bedroom.
I love the color palette-- it's relaxing, it's soothing.
But to put a jute over carpet tiles--
I don't know about you guys, but I don't want to
get out of bed and put my bare feet on jute.
But the room felt luxurious-- I was literally, like,
seconds from wanting to jump into that bed.
Thank you, Tiffany.
(Genevieve) All right, Brooks-- that leaves you.
The entryway was just a slam dunk.
I haven't seen a lot of these shapes from you before.
You have such a beautiful hand at layering.
The bar area-- it was masterful
how all of those different disparate elements came together
to create just beautiful music.
But, I was looking at the molding with the metallic paint,
and it didn't feel gilded, it didn't feel Versailles
because it was an imitation in Palm Springs,
where I wouldn't except to see it.
If you would have just put a cream or a light gray
on those walls, it would've been so perfect.
Let's move into the bedroom.
Everything you selected was absolutely gorgeous...
except the wallpaper.
Oh, what?
(David) It's like circus gone crazy.
You have to consider your client,
although I really admire that you went for it.
(Sabrina) Thank you, everyone.
Now we have to make our final and most important decision.
Who will be the next "HGTV Star"?
[exhales] Here it comes, y'all.
Get my behind-the-scene scoop on the finale
at hgtv.com/star.
It's starting to hit me that...whoa.
Yeah.
I'm so happy for all three of you, I really am.
I just...I've never cried so much in my entire life-- I don't even like criers.
Me either!
I feel like my whole life has kind of just...
worked up to this moment,
and it's just unbelievable that...that kind of sensation.
We have to pick the next "HGTV Star",
and when I look at the three people in front of us,
I think, they all have such incredible talent.
And they're all very different talents.
Yeah.
He's the one that can build stuff, he can design.
It's great that he can install a backsplash,
but really, we're looking for somebody to inspire
our audience in a design perspective.
Yeah.
For me, both Brooks,
in his leap up the camera challenge ladder this week,
and Tiffany, in her two weeks of leaps and bounds
up the design challenge ladder, it's like...
they both stepped out of their boxes so dramatically.
I'm torn about Brooks from a design standpoint,
because this week the client was Palm Springs.
I don't know where Versailles came from.
(Sabrina) But Tiffany's fireplace was just superb --
what every hotel suite should look like.
When we look at camera challenges,
she consistently is a performer.
So relatable.
I love Tiffany, I think she's amazing,
but I do feel that Brooks is inspiring.
(David) I think it's a toss-up between all three.
I am so torn.
I'm just truly honored to have met every single one of you.
If I don't get this, I walked away with nine other friends,
and I...you know, you can't replace that.
So...do we have a decision?
Yes.
All right, let's bring everybody back in.
This is huge.
