Disability Rights New Jersey (computerized voice)
Hi. My name is Bethany LaLonde, and I’m from the Assistive Technology Advocacy Center
At Disability Rights New Jersey.
This is a tablet. And today I'd like to talk about programs or apps that can be
helpful for people with traumatic brain injury.
This particular app is called the “PTSD coach.” It was developed by the
Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense it's available for
Apple and Android platforms
although the PTSD Coach was developed for people with post-traumatic
stress disorder
it can be used for people with traumatic brain injury
and can help you to manage stress.
There are several kinds of tools such as the stress assessment and coping
strategies that you could access through this app.
I will show the stress assessment
which is right here.
The first question is, “In the past month how much have you been bothered by
repeatedly disturbing memories thoughts or images of the stressful experience?”
It provides a five-point rating scale
so you can answer the question
and move on to the next.
I won’tl go through the whole thing because it's rather lengthy but it will
help give you an idea of how it can help people relate to their stress
and stressful events.
It also has different tools
that you can use to help manage stress such as a timeout
this one will give you
just an idea of how you can use the time out.
