We must not underestimate how bad a cough can be.
This warning is part of a campaign for early detection of lung cancer
in the Lakes District region by Midland Cancer Network
as the town has higher than average lung cancer rates.
For 68 year old Georgina Fraser every day is a miracle,
because she lives to tell her tale.
In 2008, Georgina realised that she was not all well
but she just couldn't pick out what it was.
As it is, lung cancer has low survival rates
if not detected earlier,
just 10% of people diagnosed with lung cancer
survive 5 years beyond diagnosis For Maori the picture is grim.
If you have a cough, don't ignore it because the longer it's ignored
the less chances of survival one will have if it is lung cancer.
The campaign of early detection will continue until November.
