Hi everyone!
I figured I'd make a little YouTube tutorialization today about the good ol' knee slap.
Now everyone likes a good ol' knee slap
But I've been seeing a lotta folk
...mostly the yougins...
Get this classic hand gesture wrong!
So let's just dive right into it.
You're gonna wanna get your hands warmed up a bit before we get into more knee slappin'.
I usually like placing my hand in a bowl of ice water from anywhere from 35 minutes to
4 hours.
After you've done this, dry your hands and repeat.
Now do you standard knee slappin' stretches which include:
The French Fry
The Roundabout
The talon
The Figure Eight
The Duck
Pinky Lift
Now you dont want to jump into anything crazy right off...hand...
Without first learning the proper knee slap posture
This includes positioning of your knee
When your hand hits your knee you want to make sure it's in the standard knee slap position.
Which means your palm needs to be flat
Now look at my thumb position
It's not quite 90 degrees and it's not quite 45 degrees
It's about 63 degfrees in conjunction to my pointer finger.
Let's start off with the good old fashioned
There. you see that? thats the standard
Here, I'll do that one more time.
This slap is easy, effect and elegant
Slaps can be altered in any way that you desire
This is the duster and it looks something like this
Now, one can extend the duster by doing the double dust
Bring it one step further by putting that dust into the pan
This is called into the pan
I'm a big fan of into the pan every now and then
This next, tricker one is called the drag and snap
This is in its most basic form
A more advance version comes from history
Chinese legend says the human harnesses demons inside their body
Demons, to the ancient chinese, were known as dragons
Which is where the techinique got its original name
"The Dragon Snap"
This specific demon known as "Ni Cap Chi Da" was exercised by rubbing the leg and pulling
the evil spirtis from your fingertips
You want to hold on to those spirits carefully
Don't hold onto it too long...you want to SNAP it out!
So them there's the basics
When you get to the more advanced stages of knee slappin,
You can even tune your knees with a tu-knee fork.
