Ryan Seacrest: Lauren Conrad has joined us once again. Welcome back, I feel like you're growing up with us.
Lauren Conrad: Oh. Really?
Ryan: Yeah. I mean, you're growing up. Doesn't she look grown up now?
Ellen K: Well, she has always looked grown up. She's always been mature.
Ryan: Well mature, but she's growing up with us. How many years have we been seeing you? Five years.
Lauren: I don't remember the first time I came on the show.
Ryan: Well, I made quite an impression then.
Lauren: Well, no! [laughs] A few years ago though, yeah.
Ryan: When did you start? When were you famous? How many years ago did you start the TV shows?
Lauren: I started filming right when I turned 18.
Ryan: And you're?
Lauren: I'm 24.
Ryan: Okay, so close.
Lauren: Yeah.
Ryan: Before we get to current, I want to go back to "The Hills" for a second
because you shot an alternate ending for the last episode, but it never aired?
Lauren: True
Ryan: So tell me what happened.
Lauren: The producer, Adam, who I've known since I was 18 called me and asked me to do
it and I was a little hesitant, but he is a very persuasive man [laughs]
so, he basically just asked, he was like 'I think it would really mean a lot to the fans of the show'
so I basically went and shot, and I mean it was like a thirty second clip with Brody
and when I was there he told me about the other ending they wanted to do on the sound stage
and that ending sounded so much cooler [laughs].
Right then I was like, 'oh, well you should probably use that one, cause this one is kind of boring.'
Ryan: So why didn't the other one air?
Lauren: I think that they were just kind of going for the one that would get the biggest reaction.
Ryan: Right. Well it was smart of Adam, he's good.
Lauren: I liked the ending.
Ryan: Adam helped create that show.
Lauren: Mine was, it was just Brody, I guess he said, [laughs], I didn't see it.
He said goodbye to Kristen or something and then he came
Ryan: Did she just say she's not narcissistic?
Lauren: No, I said I didn't see it [laughs]
Ryan: I know, that's what I meant.
Lauren: Oh [laughs].
He came back to his apartment and I was there and was just like, 'hey!' [laughs]
That was basically it!
Ryan: Wow, that's compelling.
Lauren: I know! That's why they went with the other one.
Ryan: Know I understand that Adam, he's got good taste. Are you doing another show?
Lauren: Um, maybe? [laughs]
Ryan: Are you doing another show for MTV? A reality show?
Lauren: Well, I have some stuff I'm working on, but I'm not allowed to really talk about it right now.
Ryan: Well, let me tell you what MTV is saying.
Lauren: Oh [laughs]
Ryan: MTV has just blackberryed me and said, 'we are so excited to be working with her again.'
'She is family, very proud of her. I mean, when we shot the test tape for Laguna she was 17-18 years old, now she's a mogul.'
'Maybe ask her if she thinks I look fat in black?' That's literally from MTV [laughs].
Lauren: Oh. Well, I think black is slimming [laughs] Black is a good color.
Ryan: So we can say it's safe to assume then if the network is saying it, then you're probably going to be on MTV soon
Lauren: It would be safe, but I...
Ryan: Is it going to be style fashion oriented show?
Lauren: You're going to get me into trouble! I was told specifically not to talk about this.
Ryan: Well, you have a hall pass.
Ellen: Well, you can let them say it and not her say it.
Lauren: Yeah. Oh, well than that's fine, Tony, yeah.
Well, then there you go.
Ryan: So what's the show about?
Lauren: Details will come out next week.
Ryan: But it's going to be in your world of style and fashion?
Lauren: Yeah, it'll be something very very different
Ryan: By the way, that's such a non-answer.
Lauren: Well, I'm just playing it safe here.
Ellen: So based on your books, are you going to be playing out your books on the show?
Lauren: Playing out my books? What do you mean?
Ellen: I mean will you be taking your books and making it a fiction show for MTV?
Lauren: Oh, no.
Ellen: It's reality?
Lauren: Yes.
Ryan: Is it your reality?
Ellen: Whose else would it be?
Ryan: Well I don't know, I'm trying to get one answer out of the girl
Lauren: I'm sorry! I feel like I'm going to get into trouble. Literally, they were like 'do not talk about this'
Ryan: John Stamos will show you want it's like to break all the rules
Lauren: There you go.
Ryan: He's not supposed to say anything about "Glee."I'm not even supposed to mention the word "Glee."
You watch the 8:00 hour.
[laughs] Alright, so we'll come with Lauren in just a sec.
Ryan: She's going to do a new show with MTV, which we will be announcing now [laughs]
Lauren: Unofficially.
Ellen: When do you start that gig? Like now, you've already started haven't you?
Lauren: No, I haven't. If I were going to do a reality show, it would probably start, you know, sometime in October.
Ryan: But based on what I've known from you over the last few years, I find it a little surprising that you want to go back
and do a reality show, because that was also a tough part of your life too.
Lauren: Well, I've always been open to doing reality again, it's just under certain circumstances
I think that as long as you have a seperation then it works. You have your personal life and you have work life
and when they're combined, it's difficult.
Ryan: So it's safe to say that this will follow more of your career?
Lauren: If there was a show yes
Ryan: In the world of fashion and style
Ellen: And it sounds like she would have control also.
Ryan: Would you set that in New York or LA?
Lauren: In LA, I live in LA.
Ryan: You live in LA, so it'll be set here. Well I didn't know, you said your personal life you're keeping out of it
so maybe you and Kyle aren't in it
Lauren: What?
Ryan: Maybe you and Kyle aren't in it
Lauren: Kyle would not be in it
Ryan: Okay, got it. So look for Lauren to come back to MTV soon! [laughs] Does the cast of "The Hills" know this?
Lauren: Know what?
Ryan: That you're coming back with your new series to MTV that's going to focus on the world of Lauren, fashion, and style
Lauren: Everyone will know what's going on next week when they make the official announcement
Ryan: Got it, well will stay tuned for that because we want to see what officially you're going to do, but trust me,
this is what she's doing. Alright, good to have you with us, thanks for coming.
Lauren: Thank you.
