Today we've been doing some basic training, in terms of some basic retail principles.
They're going to be trading tomorrow so we were just trying
to give them some last minute tips, thoughts and ideas.
how-to interact with customers and simple tips on how to speak to customers, how to use their
stall and set out their merchandise
Just how to make it more attractive
and easier to buy.
We haven't really done anything like this before
so hopefully we'll get loads of tips on how to price it and stuff.
because we're not really sure on pricing and stuff.
We applied for LiveUnltd after we found out on Facebook, from a post about the market
which we do in Macclesfield and we really wanted to get involved, because we wanted to further our business knowledge.
What motivates me, is kind of like
putting myself out there, to people
introducing myself to people and
talking to people I don't know.
and just having that confidence and showing off that confidence to people.
We as a industry need to encourage the youth to come in
and see it and see it as a pathway to entrepreneurship.
We truly hope, that they take some of the experiences both in the training session were they have been clearly
given some really good tips, around retail in general and how to
express themselves and also
that they gather confidence from dealing with the shopping public.
Today's event is about giving young people
the opportunity to test trade their ideas
and so not only are we inspiring them to have their own ideas, we're helping them to make them happen.
The thing that's most impressed is just the diversity of what they're doing
you know you've got a fantastic T-Shirt thing going on here
You've got the little girl with jellies, some of the
stuff is really really good.
it's been really good, interesting to see a lot of different people, it's been like a learning curve as well.
The atmosphere has been good between stalls, people have been visiting stalls and buying things from other people
looking at what they have to sell. so genuinely the atmosphere has been quite good.
I think they've worked really hard in developing their product and getting them on show and it is
impressive.
It's actually going out there
doing something for real, being themselves making a profit, and selling to the public and
making a difference to the community.
I always thought selling on a market will be easy
like, oh you just say that's that price and they buy it.
But actually you have to interact with the customers,
talk to them let them know what you have on offer
So I think that's what I
actually really learned that it's not so easy
They've been hard to do because
of the weather
and it's been difficult to sell, but it;s been enjoyable and people have been coming and just been enjoying the stall.
We've learned a lot of tips about marketing
and it's been a real good experience for us all, we've really enjoyed it.
I'm really impressed with the kids
I mean you can see the things that they've learned from yesterday and also
even now as your walking around, you can see them approaching people and really trying
to engage with people and
talk to them.
We wanted it to rain really didn't we? we wanted it to be windy
we wanted all that cause they've learnt through that bad weather today
that sales might not be good but that wasn't the driver it was the learning curve and they have all learnt
