I am Dr. Melanie Mills and I am co-coordinator of the
Living History Program for WHAM! 2011 with Dr. Mildred Pearson.
[no dialogue].
Our WHAM! event is performance of the Living History
actresses who will be out in the elementary
schools for the month of March performing famous
female characters in history.
[no dialogue].
We have Amelia Earhardt, Jackie Onassis, Lucille Ball, Queen
Victoria, Catherine Hepburn, Sacagawea, Hattie McDaniel,
Louise Brown, and Alice Paul.
It's quite a range of characters.
The Living History Program here at Eastern is cool for a couple
of reasons and one of those reasons is that it's a nice
bridge between the university and the community.
Both Dr. Pearson and I have been so impressed with
our actresses because, really, when you consider it,
this is a huge project for them to take on.
They're making themselves available for the whole month of
March in the school system but it didn't start there.
It started at the beginning of the semester with doing research
on their characters, costuming, and so forth.
So the Living History performance is really an
opportunity for us to celebrate their hard work.
