this shape here which is
what we call the " tapisserie dial " for the Royal Oak
with different functions and everything
it's gonna design that. it does a complete tour on here of 254 marks per one circle
and
it takes how long to make one dial completely ?
one hour, approximately one hour, one hour for one dial.
now you have to understand it
we sell Royal Oak
like 6000 - 8000 pieces a year
one hour for one dial
it doesn't mean that the machine can't make 10 dials at the same time
but every time we manufacture 130 dials
30 have to go to the garbage. they are not good enough to our standards.
so, when you start to understand when the whole thing is put together
it's not the machine again
somebody
a hand, a human hand is gonna work on it, all index are put one at a time on the watch.
not just a plain
that's for me craftsmanship, that's uniqueness
that's what we stand for and who we are
and not enough people know about it
so that was important for me to show you exactly behind the scenes.
see you next time.
