>> Okay, so there's a very special event happening this month,--
>> There is.
>> -- tell us about it.
>> We are going to be having our 5th annual Hospital School Prom.
It's going to be on Friday, June 5th, from 6 to 9 o'clock downstairs in the cafeteria.
>> What's the theme this year?
>> It is the "Pirate's Ball", so it's going to be pirate themed.
It's a prom, but we have it-- it's a party really
for all the kids who's been in school this year.
>> And tell me, they bring siblings, don't they?
Many of them?
>> They do.
They are allowed to bring one guest and since the siblings have been a really big part
of their lives while they've been sick, a lot of them do bring their siblings as their guest.
>> And no parents allowed?
>> We try not to have our parents.
We-- it is a prom and you don't bring your parents to the prom.
>> Now, will people be guessed-- be dressed in formal wear or pirate wear or what?
>> They have a choice.
So, it's semi-formal or pirate attire is requested so.
>> What are some of the activities?
>> Well, we have our casino games, we have a DJ that's coming, and there'll be carnival games
where kids can win their pirate *** and try to fill up their pirate bags.
>> Lots of dancing?
>> There will be dancing, there will be food, there will be music, and a lot of fun.
>> And you and the other teachers from the Palo Alto Unified School District will be
dancing too?
>> Maybe. [Laughter]
>> And what's the reaction every year from the kids about this event?
>> We get-- it's a great, great event.
I think that they really look forward to it.
I think it's one of the things that really normalizes their experience.
When they are in the hospital, they miss out on a lot of the things that other kids get to do
when they are in school, and so being able to go to a school dance is something
that I think all the kids really enjoy.
>> Okay, it should be a great event.
>> Yes. Thank you.
