Emily – Customer Assistance Officer : These days we're all looking for ways to save money. Taking some time to understand your banking
behavior, and selecting the accounts that meet your unique needs can save you a lot of money and in some cases hundreds of dollars a year.
For example, if you tend to take out small amounts of cash from an ATM on a regular basis, or use your debit card a lot, an account
that only includes a small number of transactions can result in a lot of extra fees over the course of a month. Why not consider an account with
unlimited debit transactions? It may have a slightly higher monthly fee, but could end up saving you a lot more in the long run.
Another way to avoid excess fees - try to use your own bank's ATM whenever possible, as using other ATMs often results in a fee from both
the ATM owner and your bank. And while some RBC accounts do waive some or all of the RBC fees for using other ATMs, its still a good rule
to use your bank's ATM wherever possible. But, here's another tip, if you can't get to your bank's ATM - ask for cashback with your debit card when
shopping at a retailer that offers this option. If you've had your account for a while, it's a good idea to take a look at whether your banking needs
have changed - be aware of your habits and compare them to the features included with your current account.
At RBC, we offer several handy online, and in-branch tools that can help you better understand
the way you bank and how you can save. Follow the links at the end of this video for more information.
