Introduction music track
Has it ever happened that you have big plans for your child's birthday, and life
happens and you just can't
make the deadline and you feel bad but at the end of the day it's just the way
that
the cookie crumbles, and so sometimes we just have to be okay with
it being simpler
gonna show you how to make this Captain America
easter egg cookie with edible markers
and we're going to keep it simple today
I've got a baked and cooled
egg shaped cookie, here you can see I covered the cookie
in some white royal icing. Why royal icing, because it dries
hard and so after its dry you will be able to come back onto it with some markers
and decorated
here's that cookie it's dry it took an hour
and I have a nice smooth surface to be able to draw on.
Here's my template I'll have it on the blog, link in the description.
I'm working in edible markers, edible markers are available
a few companies around make them
Here I have AmeriColor Foodoodler & Rainbow Dist also makes some
now I've got I've cut the template to facilitate transferring
the design, I'm gonna start with the blue marker
if you look at the marker you see it has a very fine tip.
This is ideal for transferring details.
I don't recommend that you start with a black marker, now if you look here
this was the shape my actual cookie cutter, the cookie warped in the baking process.
Here he has these kind of like wings coming out at the top of his head
and I'm leaning towards the paper just to get a straight line
as well as a fine line since I'm not coloring that has to be white
I'm doing a little circle on top of his head now the "A"
I'm just lightly outlining the design
I'm half on my paper and I'm just creating
a very fine line
and now the star
We don't outline his face in blue we're gonna be outlining his face
with the skin color
to ensure we get a nice line, leaning towards the paper
Because the star needs to stay white
switching I'm taking the AmeriColor
pink does a pretty decent skin color
Now we're going to be picking up the red
now I can outline the shield in red
here I'm going to draw the border
There we go and here
is the lower part
I'm going to do
the waist line then the red stripes
I will eyeball the rest without the template.
And now you just colour the rest of the cookie
I don't like that I see so many
marker strokes and so I've got some water
and I'm just passing all over my blue
areas to reduce
those lines and this gives it more of a painted look.
It's helpful to have
your marker strokes all in the same direction
Here's the rainbow dust marker and here's the AmeriColor
marker the AmeriColor gives a darker black line but the other gives you more control.
the black here you have to be very gentle when you're coloring your cookie
Or else you are gonna get some really fat messy outlines
Here I'll demonstrate it for you with the AmeriColor
I am going to start with the outer perimeter.
Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed this abbreviated version of
cookie decorating
when life happens and you still have a birthday to celebrate
and your child is counting on their number one baker to come through for
them
see you next time the
