Hi there my name is Dr. Matt Kreinheder from Unwind Chiropractic here in Rochester, NY.
Today I'm sharing some information with you about Anxiety.
Now, anxiety is a condition that a lot of people are suffering from and its a major
life interrupter. I have some interesting things I can share with you about it and we're
going to talk about why and what you can do. First of all, why does anxiety happen? Well
it can be and event, a series of life events, exposure to a long period of stressful things
and it may manifest as anxiety attacks or an unwillingness to deal with the outside
world because it's too much or too scary. The thing that's interesting to me is that
even when things aren't scary in the moment the nervous system has this habit of expressing
anxiety that keeps you afraid of what is going on.
So what can you do about it? Well there are a number of things you can do from a lifestyle
perspective. Talking to a counselor, being friends, being with loved ones, meditating
is an amazing one, sometimes even exercise is helpful to get that energy moving. Any
of these things can be really beneficial, even food can really play a role sometimes.
From my perspective as a Chiropractor, the way that I look at it is from the nervous
system. You're nervous system has learned how to be anxious and it hasn't learned how
it can be calm again. So you've been exposed to these major, scary or intense, overwhelming
life situations and your nervous system ramped up in order to handle this and now it's not
coming back down. What I've often seen is that even when people
have tried meditating or tried talking to a counselor nothing changes because their
nervous system is set at a place where they can't take in new information. They can't
learn how to do new things to calm themselves down because somewhere in their body their
physiology is set to say its dangerous, I've got to look out, I've got to be on my guard,
I've got to be anxious. So when we change these habits and we change
these patterns in the nervous system then people are able to start to do things that
are really beneficial. This is something I've seen often and I'd love to help you out with
