Hi this is Rachel - and this is Kendra - and you're watching This Week in TV. Today we
have the week's scheduling and then will be discussing some Convincing Family casting.
Kendra, What's on?
K: On Monday, Being Human has its season finale on Syfy at 9pm. On Tuesday, Glee returns from
its hiatus on FOX at 8pm including the much-anticipated guest appearance of Matthew Bomer. Body of
Proof has its season finale on ABC at 10, and also at 10, Justified has its season finale
on FX. On Wednesday, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 has its series premiere on
ABC at 9:30. All at 10pm, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returns on NBC, Psych has its
season finale on USA, and America's Best Dance Crew has its season premiere on MTV. So, that's
the beginning of the week, what else is new, Rachel?
R: On Thursday it's the season finale of Up All Night On NBC. Then on Sunday April 15th
we have the debut of new police drama NYC 22 on CBS. It's the finale of Eastbound and
Down on HBO, followed by the debut of the much hyped new series Girls.
R: We're all pretty excited for Matthew Bomer playing Blaine's brother on this week's Glee
- perfect casting, right?, which got us thinking about some other shows that have done an excellent
job of casting people that we're supposed to believe are related. Kendra, which shows
do you think have cast convincing family members?
K: My first pick is 90210's Jen Clark, played by Sara Foster, as Naomi's sister. These ladies
are well-matched in their tall and leggy ways, but they do also have similarities in their
faces, and most certainly in their well-played character personalities that make them a very
believable sisterly match. What's your first pick, Rachel?
R: Well, for another CW pick, I think Gossip Girl has done a pretty good job with Serena
- played by Blake Lively - and her mother Lily, played by Kelly Rutherford. Then again,
I think any actress that was also tall, blonde and thin would probably make a convincing
mother for Serena. Who else have you chosen, Kendra?
K: Continuing to speak of tall and leggy, my next pick is Marshall's dad played by Bill
Bill Fagerbakke on How I Met Your Mother. Marvin Eriksen matches Marshall's lanky awkwardness,
goofiness, and overall facial features very nicely. While Marshall's whole family is made
up of tall dudes, I'd say Marvin matches the best to Marshall. Who else do you think is
a good match, Rachel?
R: Well, for yet another mother/daughter duo, I'm going to go old school and call out perhaps
the best mother/daughter ever - Lorelai and Rory Gilmore of Girlmore Girls. Both actresses
have dark hair and light complexions, but what probably made them most convincing was
their similar speech patterns - both talked a mile a minute. So, those are some of our
favorite TV castings for related characters. Tell us yours in the comments!

R: And we'll see you next week.
