Highlight text to annotate it

OK, the first thing you want to do is make sure you have the picture you want to use.
In this example, I’m gonna use this cup of colored pencils on a white background but
really and picture will work.
Next up, you want to open PowerPoint which I already have open in the background. Before
you get started, you want to get rid of these boxes. Just highlight them, hit the delete
key on your keyboard and they go away.
Next, we want to use the picture we’ll be using. So, go find your picture. Stick it
in there. I like to keep my pictures right around 5-inches, uh, if I’m going to use
it for a blog post or Facebook. Uh, you’ll notice this one right here is 4.99 and we
can live with that. If you do need to resize it, quickly, just, uh grab the little handle
here and drag it around however you need to.
Next up, we want to add our text. And, you do that basically by adding a text box. Now,
I like to add, uh, one box per line or per word because that let’s me format things
a little easier and a little faster. But, you can go ahead and add your text however
you want. If you want to add it in one big paragraph that’s fine too.
Basically, I add one line, right click. Copy and paste each additional text box. It goes
a little bit faster. K, bear with me for a second while I quickly add the rest of this
title and get it looking the way we want.
Alright, I made that pretty quickly. But, that’s partially because I already sketched
this image out on paper before I started. I think that helps me get things done a little
bit quicker and I suggest you do the same.
Now that we have it looking the way we want, I’m going to take the border off by right
clicking on the background image, uh, format picture and no line. Again, you don’t have
to do this if you have a colored picture that you’re using. I just do this because it’s
on a white background.
And then, we’re going to group everything. We do that by basically, highlighting everything
on this, uh, slide. And then, right click somewhere and say “Grouping,” Group. That
puts everything together in basically one layer. You can still go in and edit individual
stuff. But, this way, if you want to do the next step which is saving the picture, it
saves everything.
So, you basically, right click somewhere. You hit, save as picture. You add your title,
which is; “adding text to images with PowerPoint.” Now, I like to use dot PNG files for my pictures
but you can use a JPEG or any other format. Uh, PNG or JPEG are kinda the two most popular.
I suggest you stick with those. And, then go ahead and hit save.
You can also save the PowerPoint file if you want to edit your picture in the future but
you don’t necessarily have to. Um, with that, you have your very own picture with
text on it that’s ready to be shared on Facebook, Pinterest or even your blog.
