Dennis: Welcome Ladies and Gentleman to the 20th
Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon presentedby
Cigna. I'm Dennis Marsico.
Sage: And I'm Sage Steele. Here to
give you all the tips you need to enjoy a successful weekend.
Mickey: And I'm Mickey Mouse! (ha-ha)
Dennis: Mickey! Sage, go ahead, I'll be right back! Mickey!
Sage: Folks, before we can delve into anything about the big race we must FIRST show you how
to get around.
Dennis: Transportation has been arranged
for Walt Disney World Resort guests.
As well as guests staying at the Shades of Green
and the Swan and Dolphin.
Buses will be indicated by runDisney signs placed in the front window.
If you are staying at a Resort on property, please check
with your front desk for a pick-up location.
Mickey: Oh Boy!
Sage: The busses will run every 20 minutes
from Walt Disney World to the
following events:
Sage: Disney's Health and Fitness Expo
Dennis: Disney Family Fun Run 5K
Sage: runDisney Kids Races, which are excellent.
Dennis: The Walt Dinsey World Half Marathon
And of course the Walt Disney World Marathon.
Participants staying at
a Walt Disney World Resort are strongly encouraged
to use the event transportation to all Marathon Weekend events.
Mickey: Well, Dennis, you can't forget about this!
Dennis: Thanks Mickey! That is important! This just in! For
participants driving to Epcot on race morning, expect significant
delays! Some roads begin to close as early as 11:00 p.m. on
the evenings before the Half Marathon and Marathon.
That's underlined!!
Dennis: Disney's Health & Fitness Expo
taking place Thursday, Friday and Saturday of
race weekend. Check it out! There are numerous runner
resources, seminars on training, racing and nutrition and
Official Walt Disney World Marathon Merchandise.
Dennis: All runners are required to attend Disney'ys Health & Fitness
Expo for race number and packet pick-up.
Look at all this stuff!
Sage: Where is Packet Pickup?
Dennis: Here, at ESPN Wide World of Sports!
Sage: Do I need to bring anything with me to Packet Pickup?
Dennis: Photo ID and your signed waiver.
Have you signed your waiver?
Sage: Of course. Downloaded and signed!
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Dennis: Yes -
The individual picking up on your behalf must provide a
Packet Pick-Up Authorization Form signed by the participant
a copy of the participant's photo ID, and the event waiver
signed by the participant as well as their own photo ID
Sage: Wow. I'm impressed, Mr. Marsico
Dennis: And remember,
Packet Pick-Up is NOT available the day of the race.
Dennis: Next on the list... Friday morning at 6:30 a.m. at Epcot,
it's the Disney Family Fun Run 5K!
Experience a 5K course that winds through Epcot with an
unforgettable finish!
BUT FIRST A SAFETY REMINDER!
For the safety of yourself and other
participants,the follwoing are prohibited from the course: baby
carriers, motorized scooters, bicycles, skateboards, crutches,
walkers, and animals of any kind. If you are seen in
violation of one of these you will be removed from the course
and transported to the finish line area.
Mickey: Guess what!?
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday we get to go to the most amazing
and exciting event of the whole weekend...
Dennis: The runDisney Kids Races!!!
Mickey: Hot dog! There's the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash
the Mickey Mile and... and even the Diaper Dash!
Dennis: I love the kids races!
Sage: You do?
Dennis: Yep! And the kids love me!
Dennis: You think you'll run another race?
Kid: No
Dennis: Bye
Kid: Bye...
Dennis: You have any favorite princesses out there?
