I think college towns and university towns have a
a certain sense and vitality.
I think it's a great idea,
fantastic!
To have folks here and our kids be able to grow up here and
then go to school. Education in general is that element that keeps a
community growing. Central Oregon is just such a great place
and this would just add to the wonderful
atmosphere that we already have.
I was the first in my family to go to college
same with my wife.
We've already set up a college fund for our grandkids.
So we are a real
believer in education.
We have a tremendous amount of kids who feel like
they cannot go,
part of it is sometimes they just
really aren't aware that is out there.
And i think when you bring it that much closer
kids especially in this area need the ability and need the choice to go to school.
And now I am real excited at the prospect of having a four year university here in Central Oregon.
If there had been a four year university when I had started to go to college, I would have come
here rather than go anywhere else.
It would add to our cultural diversity by having
people and students
young adults engaged in the community. I'll tell you if a stand alone four year university in Bend had been here
when I graduated from school,
it would have been a no brainer for me.
It would put us on the map more than we are already on the map. Its going to create jobs
it is going to bring in people that will help build the
community. I think a lot more people would
come here and it would boost our local economy.
I love the whole scene I love the
university, I love the vitality and economic impact. It brings people who uhhh...
get that education and then want to stay in the community.
Higher education and a four year school
are
vital to economic development for our area. So we feel that with education that is going to attract various
manufacturers who might come to Central Oregon.
To the extent you can get an education
no one can ever take it away from you.
Without education
that limits your opportunities.
Moving forward, bring creative. It's a win-win for everyone! Well i think it's huge. Certainly very important.
More powerful workforce. Raises everything up.
It's really going to be a great opportunity.
Influx of people coming in for an education.
You have a higher level of education
it can bring in more small businesses. It would be awesome.
It can bring in more large businesses. It effects the entire community in incremental ways that suddenly become huge.
