(Guy) Hello. My name is Guy Piotrowski and I am the coordinator for Applications and
Admissions here at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.
I'm here to talk to you about the application process to the school:
Application to the school is through the Schools of Public Health Application Service, or S.O.P.H.A.S.,
a centralized application service.
The required parts of the application are: a statement of purpose and objectives, a resumé
or C.V., official postsecondary transcripts from all U.S. institutions, three letters
of recommendation, and GRE or other standardized test scores, depending on the program that
you are applying to.
International applications are also required to provide a World Education Services evaluation
of foreign coursework and proof of English proficiency, which usually consists of the
TOEFL or IELTS English test scores.
Here are a few tips for completing your application: the first is to take your time. Try to complete
your application at least two weeks before the deadline, in case there are any issues
with how you completed it.
As you will be entering all of your postsecondary coursework in the application, be sure to
have copies of your transcripts available.
The priority deadline for admission is the beginning of December. The final deadline
for application varies by program but is generally in mid-april.
