Getting the right Bulimia tips for recovery can motivate and guide someone through recovery
and beyond.
The most effective tips require that some sort of action is taken É..but if someone
is thinking that itÕs going to be hard, to be a struggle and that recovery is all about
something they have to give upÉÉÉ their actions may not be as effective as if they
looked at Bulimia Recovery ÉÉÉÉ.as a journey to reclaiming themselves and their life; a
life in which they have a healthy relationship with themselves and food, are confident and
happy and doing what they love.
And this is totally possible.
I have done it along with many others who have successfully overcome bulimia and who
on reflection see that the journey of recovery can be one of self discovery, the road to
self love and acceptance and the creation of a life you love - a journey you may not
have undertaken had you not had bulimia.
So finding out what you love and who you truly are is very important and extraordinarily
helpful in supporting bulimia recovery.
As is this tipÉ which is initially very scary for someone dealing with bulimia and takes
some courage and that isÉÉ.. to stop dieting Ð to stop restricting calories and or food
types.
Now this probably isnÕt a tip that most bulimia sufferers want to hear because of their overwhelming
fear of putting on weight and being out of control around food.
I mean food or eating seems to be the problem.
However in reality it is the dieting or restricting of food that is the problem and is the major
contributing factor for bingeing. The secret to stopping the binge purge cycle characteristic
of bulimia is to start eating.
Now it took me a bit me of time to get my head around that all those years ago Ð I
mean I was terrified of putting on weight Ð but once I
began to eat little and often so I didnÕt get hungry I began to feel a whole lot better
physically, mentally and emotionally and the binging and purging slipped away. Whilst I
did put on some weight Ð that gain was far out weighed by all the positive gains and
opportunities that opened up as I left my eating disorder behind.
And for many other recovered bulimics they find that they are actually able to maintain
a lower weight than when suffering from bulimia as their bodies came back to balance.
