Highlight text to annotate it

Hi, this is Jessica Hagman,
a librarian at Ohio University Libraries.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to use the "find it" link
to find the full text of articles in the ArticlesPlus database.
I'm going to start from the ArticlesPlus database
where I've done a search for "social media AND gender".
A lot of the articles listed in ArticlesPlus
will already have the full-text available.
So, result number 1, "The Social Networking Arena:
Battle of the Sexes",
I see a link to the PDF full-text right here.
It would also be available if I clicked on the title
and went to the record for that page.
But if you don't see a full-text link,
as in the case of number 8,
"Maintaining Class, Producing Gender",
we don't have a link here,
nor do we have one in the record on the left-hand side.
So, what I need to do is click on the "find it" link
and this tool is going to search all the library's content
to see if we have a subscription to the article
in another location.
In this case, I see the link under the "full text" heading,
to "view this article at the
OhioLINK Electronic Journal Ceter"
This link may say something different,
depending on where the article is actually located,
but it should always be in this location.
So, when I click on the link, it takes me right to the EJC
and there is a link to the PDF full-text of the article.
When you're searching in ArticlesPlus,
you should know that you may also
run into some books because this database
also includes our catalog.
So you won't actually see a full-text link,
but you will see a link to our catalog.
So let's look at example number 22,
"Gender, Race, and Class in Media".
In this case, we don't have a link to the
full-text of the article or a "find it" link,
we have a link to our catalog
and we can see whether or not this book is available
in the library.
If you have any questions about finding the full-text of articles
or finding any other information,
remember that you can always go back to the library home page,
use the ASK US pop-up to chat with a librarian
or click on the "need help?" link to find more ways to contact us.
I hope you found this video helpful.
