Today we're doing about 100 evolutions of
DLQ - night and day time landing qualifications.
We've brought in a few HCOs -
helicopters control officers and LSOs from other cutters.
LSO stands for landing signal officers and we've brought a few in to
get people qualified, more people qualified and extra practice
for our crew as well as the pilots operating the helos.
Right, obviously this is something that we need to train
we need to train for before going out and executing.
Landing on a moving platform that's oscilating
up and down is definitely not the most comfortable thing especially the first you do it
but as you continue to train I guess it becomes somewhat more comfortable.
Becoming perficiant at this and practicing and practicing helps create a
team oriented atmosphere where everyone is working together
and everyone knows each others jobs.
