Teaching is
is so important to me
and I love, I love teaching, just today I had a fantastic
class with my tap class
just being able to to make a difference in students lives. We have a
ballett program, we have jazz program, we have modern dance
we also have african dance, which we started a new african ensemble
two or three years ago so we have a variety we have some dancers who love
ballet but wnat to major in chemical engineering but they're still able to
take ballet class and that again is what is so amazing about our university
that students have those opportunities. As artists I think we are so blessed to
be able to share our craft whether that is art or music or theater or dance and
were able to share that with not only our students but also the
community
Tap dance is my life,
you know I love Tap dance.
and everyone loves it, the president of the university has received a tap-o-gram.
the tappers have their own floor and they show up and they dance for you.
and they, you know set your day up for greatness, which I love.
Our modern dance faculty member who is completely
emerged today in the Music Man which is the musical this semester and
that is a full collaboration
of music theatre and dance, and great way to put our foot forward for
our new school
and so David Ollington, is doing choreography for the Music Man,
uh... we do have a new
faculty member of this this year, Laura Donnelly,
who is our ballet professor and she was the first K-State Dance graduate.
She was the star dancer for Roni Mahler, who's the founder of the Dance Program
It does make sense to have a us become a school of Music, Theatre
and Dance
we were so grateful to the administration
the college of Arts and Sciences Dean's office
for
helping us with that transition, the Board of Regents
made that possible so quickly and in record time we became the school of Music,
Theatre and Dance
It's the Music Man I know that there's a band.
