Hello!
Today I'm going to be showing you
a magic triangle trick.
It's sometimes called the
Missing Square Paradox
or Curry's Paradox,
named after someone
who first stipulated the problem.
So, let's have a look at the problem.
I've got 4 shapes that fit together
to form a triangle shape.
Right, so there we go.
We have a triangle.
Now the weird thing is
if I rearrange this
something odd will happen.
So, there we go.
You can see the height
is exactly the same as before
and the width
is exactly the same as before
So, where has this
missing square gone?
I'll rearrange it again.
So you can see the width
is exactly the same as before
and the height
is exactly the same as before
and we've got our square back.
So where has it gone?
So there you have it.
That is Curry's Paradox.
See if you can work out
what's going on.
If you do want to see the answer
then there's a separate video
and you can click on it right there
and that'll take you to the video
or if you don't have
annotations turned on
there'll be a link
in the video description below.
So thanks for watching.
