So we're in Texas, it's near, it's still near Sulphur Springs I believe.
This is Brock, Eric and Ray and their Extreme Hog Hunters.
Is that right? Yes Sir. So this is kind of like not just a hobby for
you. It's a way of life, is htat right? Yeah, there pretty much everywhere around
here. Yeah, well we hear that you've actually been
called out to deal with some hogs so you don't actually have to go and find your land anymore,
people come to you to go and hunt their hogs. Yes Sir.
How awesome is that?
Its pretty good, it works out pretty good for us. You know it keeps us from having to
do a lot of searching , a lot of other stuff you know.
But it works out pretty good for us. So you've got a reputation that proceeds you,
that must mean that you're good. Yeah well we try to be.
Okay but not only do you hunt hogs I've seen some elk hunting aswell, is that right?
Accidental elk hunting yeah. Anyway, so you've got an awful lot of hogs
around here, what is the main problem these things cause In this area?
Tearing up the farmers land I mean they tear up land bad.
Yeah. It's ridiculous. It's getting to a point where
if somebody doesn't do something about it then there going to overtake especially with
farmland. So what do you do with the hogs once you've
caught them? Do you kill them? Do you sell them on?
It just depends, if we can tie them and get them out, then we'll tie'em and get them out.
If not then we'll kill them and leave them. Right okay.
It's just if we can get them out, we try to get them out.
Okay and you said your looking for a hog today that's about a hundred and fifty pounds.
Yeah, I'd like to get one about hundred and fifty pounds.
And you'll use that to train the dogs? Yeah we'll use them to train the pups.
Cool. So looks like your dogs are pretty much excited
and ready to go. Yeah. Although, you guys seem completely kool about
this. Like same old, same old right?
Oh yeah, yes sir. Okay well we'll follow instruction you got
to lead on, so thank you very much guys and good luck all right.
We'll go to them.
Bulldogs are hot as, yeah we'll have to run them without the vest,
All right boys I got it. That's a good size boar.
So brock, talk me through that, it was a bit exciting then yeah.
Yeah, yeah well I thought there was a bunch of cows in here and I thought they were running
around off in here and then we crossed that creek and looked up in therer and there's
a big old group of pigs. Hear them grunting.
There was quite a big group, a family group in there what would you say there was about
ten, fifteen pigs in there? Yeah, probably about thqt. bunch of little
ones, there was little ones running everywhere. Yeah but a pretty little good old deal, we'll
walk them on through and then we'll catch another one right quick.
Cool. So this pig here, we've obviously caught him,
tied it. That's the one Eric was looking for.
Pulled him in the shade their. Just tied him to a tree.
He'll calm down now yeah? Yeah, he'll calm down and then we'll go get
the four wheelers in a minute. And bring them down here and we'll catch him,
drag him out you know. And we'll put him in the trailer.
Good stuff. Well its been a pleasure watching you buddy.
No problem. I appreciate the help.
No worries, that's what we're here for. So Brock, this is a much bigger pig than it
So Brock, this is a much bigger pig than itlooked when it was on the floor back there. Yeah, he's a good hog.
He'll grow to about two hundred pounds.
Yeah, good hog. So you went back and fetched him.
He seems to have calmed down a little bit now. Yeah.
So what's life got in store for this pig now? He's probably going to end up on somebody's
plate. They're going to get eaten.
Yeah, probably. So yeah, he probably doesn't realize that
now so lets not tell him that but well that was an incredible hunt.
It was great watching the dogs work.
Obviously the winds been pretty stiff, and they did some mileage aswell at one point
they were like two, three hundred yards out, before they came back in.
But they seemed to know where these pigs were.
Yeah they usually sniff them out and find them. And with the wind blowing like this
its usually harder for them to find unless the wind aint real good.
But most times you get on fresh tracks, your dogs will find one.
So we saw as soon as the dogs were on them, the entire lot just scattered everywhere.
Yeah that's usually what they do.. They usually break apart and then they dodge
and single one out and go to it. So we got this one and we also got a really
giant piglet. Yeah it must have weighed near a pound that thing.
That's usually how it goes it was a real quick hunt.
Anyways absolute pleasure working with you, thank you very much for bringing us out today.
No problem.
Thank you Eric. Thank you and good luck and hopefully you can save me a little bit but
yeah.
