Hi. Welcome to Hair with Hollie. I'm Hollie, and in this series, each week we're going
to show you how to do a different celebrity hairstyle. This week it's Taylor Swift, and
we're going to show you how to do her red carpet curly updo.
So to start this look off we're going to do curl the hair, because, as you know, Taylor
Swift has very curly hair. So if your hair isn't naturally curly just grab a wand to
pop a few curls through it. So, we're going to start with quite a deep side parting using
the arch of the brow as a guide for this.
So take about three inches and curl them quite tightly, pin them up, with a clamp, and leave
to cool.
For this look we're going to be curling away from the face.
So, once you've that done just continue curling, again, towards the face, throughout the length
of the hair, starting quite high up on the length of the hair, and then we're going to
pin it into a bun.
So, now that the hair is all curled, we're not going to brush out these curls were going
to leave them quite tight and quite ringlet like. But, what we are going to do is add
a bit of volume.
So, take in a tail comb, or a back combing brush, take sections from the crown of the
head and backcomb just about an inch or two inches just to give this look a bit of lift.
So, we've pulled all the hair to one side, and what we're going start doing now is building
the bun. So taking just little kirby grips, just going to pin in place the general shape
of the bun, before taking the length of hair and adding it to it to create quite a messy,
curly feature.
So, this look is quite informal, and quite distressed, so it doesn't have to be too neat,
so don't worry about making every strand perfect. Just add a bit of hairspray to give a bit
of grip and then start pinning the lengths in place.
So the most important thing about this look is getting the texture right, so you want
quite a big bun. So, if you find that you're running out of hair, just backcomb through
the lengths just to add a bit more volume.
So, as you can see, I've finished the bun now and it looks great, quite messy, but still,
quite cool.
So we're going to concentrate now on the curled bits that we have here on the front, and we're
going to make quite a nice feature out of them.
So, we're just going to follow the natural curl around and pin in place.
So, when you're happy with your look, and happy with the shape of your curls, just use
a good bit of hairspray to hold it in place.
So, there you have it. Our finished Taylor Swift updo. Very red carpet, but still very
easy to do.
