Hi, my name is Nate McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In these clips we're going
to talk about the proper way to remove and replace a front wheel drive vehicle's Ball
Joint. In this clip we're going to talk about letting your vehicle down off of your jack
stands and jack and torquing the lug nuts on your wheel. Got my jack stand under here,
it's pretty much a safety device. Will have to pump up my jack a little bit. Alright,
got my jack stand out. Going to take and slowly release the pressure on your floor jack. This
is the pressure screw. You don't want to let it down all at once, may damage the vehicle
or your jack. Alright, it's a good idea to take and tighten up the release screw. Move
my floor jack out of the way. And do my torquing sequence. Approximately as hard as you can
push with one hand, it's tight enough. From here we're going to go to here. The very next
farthest one away.
On aluminum rims you're going to want to recheck the torque on them after 25 miles of driving.
As you can see I jumped around a lot while I was tightening down the wheel. I started
here and in order to get the wheel to seat flat and true and centered you're going to
want to go from here, to here, to here, to here, to here. They call that the star pattern.
That's the proper way to torque your wheel.
