Good morning!
Let's get started.
This is a shot of a city district in the 60's,
in the South Zone of São Paulo,
from the archives of the Women's Popular Union.
This is quite an interesting photo
because it shows women, many older ones, working in the construction of the district.
In the 60's, São Paulo received a wave of northeasterners
with open arms.
Today, they are our teachers in the South Zone of São Paulo.
That was when the formation of what now are the suburbs of São Paulo began,
the South Zone.
This shot is quite interesting.
It shows the community organization,
and this is the end of a collective building effort.
They were building houses, low-income housing.
The housing movement in the 60's was very strong.
in the South Zone of São Paulo.
It was when the Women's Popular Union was created,
young women
who started the work as early as in the 60's,
right in the midst of the military dictatorship.
The dictatorship was harsh in São Paulo.
But the work with the mothers' club started then,
with spaces in the churches.
The work with children,
the literacy education was also already under way.
The children, here is a shot of the day care center
that was next to the workers' village.
The workers were building their own houses.
This is Campo Limpo today,
the suburbs in the South Zone of São Paulo.
Here you can see the river,
but it is not the Amazon, it's the Pirajussara River,
also famous for its floods.
That’s what it’s about,
That’s how the work of the Women's Popular Union started,
the community organization work of bringing the residents together.
Today, we work with the elderly.
Today, it is the elderly who tell us about the demands of the community.
The community bank is one of the activities
among many others of the Women's Popular Union.
This is a shot of the digital inclusion work that we do.
Always integrating the elderly, the children.
The community bank is part of the scene.
The goal of the community bank is
to lead the community to manage the money that circulates there,
the Sampaio, or the production credit.
This is the Sampaio, which is famous
because it has been the subject of several talks,
including with the workers of this hotel,
we talked a lot about the community currency, the Sampaio.
It also gives us self-esteem,
we, the residents of Campo Limpo.
Today we have a currency of the district,
we have the South Wave, this cap that we wear,
there is the T-shirt made by the women.
Thus, today, the community currency is part of the community strengthening.
This is what the Sampaio, the community bank seeks,
besides information.
Today, our community debates several things.
Today we discuss the compulsory balance,
we discuss the gross revenue.
This is information that the suburbs did not have.
Today we try to reconnect this community
through the community bank. This shot is from 2010.
...with a more solidary community,
a community which has always looked for solidarity.
This is what we are looking for.
Thanks.
