[music] Hi I’m Nic, one of the Travel for Work Advisors
at Metro and I’m here to tell you about our Corporate MetroCard Scheme that’s available
to all members of the West Yorkshire Travel Plan Network.
The Corporate MetroCard is a discounted travel ticket which, over a year, can provide 3 months
free travel each employee registered on the scheme, and it's really easy to set up.
Your organisation simply purchases an annual MetroCard for each eligible employee, and
the employee then repays the cost through monthly salary deductions.
COMMENTARY: Here are some on the benefits for you the
employer. The scheme is free to set up.
You get a more productive workforce. Research has shown that a walk to the bus stop or train
station is far less stressful than rush-hour driving. Result? Improved staff wellbeing
and less sick leave.
Using Corporate MetroCard also helps improve your environmental credentials and demonstrates
a commitment to your Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
The scheme reduces the demand for staff parking on-site and in surrounding streets, so better
management of resources and fewer parking problems to solve.
And the benefits for employees? A generous discount of 3 months free travel
over the year. Virtually unlimited travel, so staff can use
it during the evenings and at weekends. Different types of ticket are available for
use on the bus and train, to suit individual travel needs.
Easy monthly payments, spreading the cost over the year, making it an attractive benefit
for staff.
Nic: Corporate MetroCard is designed to be a simple
scheme to operate with minimal admin support from your organisation.
So how does the scheme work?
First, choose a co-ordinator within your organisation as a point of contact, both for your employees
and for Metro. We will supply application forms for your
staff. Once completed, these are returned to Metro.
Finally, Metro issues the Corporate MetroCard tickets which are sent to your co-ordinator
for distribution. Your organisation will then be invoiced for
the number of applications received.
Metro can also help you promote the scheme within your organisation by providing:
Corporate MetroCard posters to advertise the scheme at your site.
Pop up banners for promotional days and lunchtime events
Suggested wording for your intranet and employee emails to encourage staff to participate.
The MetroCard scheme is popular with both large and small employers throughout West
Yorkshire including organisations such as Lloyds Banking Group, Asda, Leeds City College,
Bradford Council and many more already signed up.
Here’s what Alex Jones from Asda has to say about the scheme.
Alex Jones: There are 2000 colleagues based at Asda House
and not enough car parking spaces for everybody. This is a great initiative and it frees up
the car park and also helps alongside the green policy that Asda has.
It's remarkably easy, you fill an application form, provide a photograph and that goes straight
to Metro, who produce the cards. Really easy.
Nic: So if you want to set up or find out more
about the Corporate MetroCard scheme please contact us here at Metro and we’ll be happy
to help.
