NO? Yup~ Then what shall we eat?
This restaurant seems to be full of people Look at all the photos on the wall
Yup! Let's have lunch at this particular joint.. Eh! You have this at night, and again in the
morning Aren't you tired of it?
Precisely I haven't had this for dinner so I am making it up during breakfast!
This restaurant has many patrons isn't it? This restaurant looks not bad!
The best.. The locals eat here... LOCAL
Ok okok, this one is good, the locals have lunch here
THis is good... but looks like full house, Let's wait for awhile.
It's asking us to wait outside Wait outside, to be seated
Its asking us to sit here... okay NO HOO HOO
Asking you not to cry here Not to sleep
NO GET MAD Cannot get angry
Looks comfortable sitting here.. ok ok
Coming to Hawaii, we gotta learn to be patient Let's wait for awhile then...
Just like Taiwan The famous/popular restaurants here
All need to wait This traditional Hawaiian restaurant
Was said to be well known by everyone Now the restaurant is helm by the 2nd Generation
This restaurant has been opened for 48 years It's been soooo long
Coming to USA, everyone's polite You don't get honked here already
So let's just patiently and obediently wait in line
Don't let the locals laugh as our misbehviour Hey, you two stop fooling around
Hurry hurry, someone is coming out... You two can enter to get your lunch!
We want to eat some traditional food Traditional Yes OK
Like the Lau Lau plate is a good one to take La la?
Lau Lau, it's a pork and the taro leaves
wrapped and steamed for 4 hours That's very good
Lau Lau? Lau Lau.
Vivian, the lady boss kindly suggested to order
a laulau combi, which includes the main staple of the Hawaiians, yam (taro), and there's
the green watercress, salted pork and this Laulau that looks very much like our gultinous
rice dumplings Woah, this entire meal looks so special!
Hey, actually, when we visit one country we will go try out the local food, right?
Like in Cambodia, we ate that... Duck egg thingy, right?
Isn't it? Now this meal would the local food we will be trying here in Hawaii
And this local joint is said to have won Best Restaurant Award for 7 straight years
This is stated "Hawaii's Best" Here's let's try it!
The food they have here looks like a meat dumpling
Laulau dumpling Is it because the dumpling festival is near??
This laulau, taro leaves wrapped pork and a little bit of fish, steamed for 4 hours
is Hawaiians' favourite dish Woah! Look at that! Looks and smells good!
This taste like our Chinese salted bean canned fish
Whale? Salted fish, oh! salted bean fish... This taste just like that...
And it's that particular brand... Oh, it taste really close!!
Very much like that taste! That fishy taste that Hao Zi and Ah Xiang
discovered is used to bring out the flavours of the Laulau
Actually this taste really fresh, and slightly bland, very different compared to the strong
heavy flavours that Americans like.. This Laulau allows you to taste the pure and
original flavours of fish and pork medley Very special!
This vegetables taste like the vegetables we usually have during Chinese New Year
Mum would cook it down till it is all mushy and soft like this.
All the fibres have melted Right! All have melted!
And I think the taste of the leaves wasn't too strong but in contrast the flavours of
the pork and the fish came through Look, as you just cut it open, you can see
many layers of leaves, so when you eat the pork, you eat the leaves together
Yes, you never get tired or overwhelmed by the flavours
Yup!
