(BELL RINGING)
FINKEL: Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time
(CROWD CHEERING)
for the World Wrestling Federation Championship!
In this contest, the individual who scores
the most falls in the 60-minute time limit
will be the winner.
(SEXY BOY PLAYING)
JR: Hear the tremendous ovation for HBK!
FINKEL: Introducing the special guest referee,
the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels!
JERRY: He's already answered one question, JR.
Is he going to wear those shorts? He's wearing 'em.
JR: We have seen Shawn Michaels tonight
interact, we didn't see the conversation, interact with Stephanie McMahon.
We have seen Shawn Michaels go into The Rock's locker room.
We have heard that conversation
with Shawn and The Rock was not very positive earlier.
We heard Shawn Michaels talk to Triple H. We know they are friends.
And they talked about everything but this match, quite frankly.
JERRY: I think that was maybe just...
They were both trying to get loose. Lot of tension.
JR: This is the second WWF Iron Man Match in the modern era.
Shawn Michaels won the WWF Title from Bret Hart
in WrestleMania XII in an Iron Man Match.
Where we saw no falls in the first 60 minutes.
(MY TIME PLAYING)
JR: Triple H made the challenge for this match-up.
He not only wants back the WWF Title, but Triple H wants to prove
that The Game is the most dominant athlete in this business.
JERRY: He is The Game. He says he's The Game.
I believe he is The Game, but he's got to prove it tonight.
FINKEL: First, the participant,
accompanied by the McMahon-Helmsley Faction,
from Greenwich, Connecticut, weighing 260 pounds,
the World Wrestling Federation Champion,
Triple H!
JR: Triple H is escorted by his wife, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley,
who is the reigning WWF Women's Champion,
along with the father-in-law, Vince McMahon, the owner of this company,
and, uh, Shane McMahon.
JERRY: Simba! Simba! He beat Big Show tonight.
JR: Triple H's brother-in-law, a real family affair here.
So much has been made of the officiating in this match-up
that we have not spoken of the fact that neither Triple H nor The Rock
have ever, in their WWF careers, gone 60 minutes.
King, you've been in 60-minute matches in your illustrious career.
It must be a hellacious challenge.
JERRY: Without a doubt, JR.
There's nothing quite like it, it's really hard to describe.
I really wanted to talk to each one of these guys before this match.
One thing you got to be so careful of.
This is one of those matches where you can't go out there...
For lack of a better term, you can't shoot your ***
in the first 10 minutes of this match or even the first 30 minutes of this match.
You got to realize, this is going to go 60 minutes, whether you like it or not.
You got to have something left at the end of that 60 minutes.
JR: In the locker room, the boys call it "The Hour."
Vince, Shane, Steph...
Not that I don't appreciate it,
because there's nothing more I'd like to have than my family sitting ringside
watching me destroy The Rock for 60 minutes.
JERRY: This is touching, JR.
But I'll tell you what.
I'm gonna make history tonight on a whole lot of levels,
and I'm gonna do it myself.
This is between me and The Rock,
man-to-man, one-on-one.
So I'm gonna ask you all to go in the back and leave it to me...
JERRY: Wait a minute. What?
...and The Rock to settle by ourselves.
JERRY: Wait a minute, Triple H, you need to rethink this.
TRIPLE H: I'm sure.
I want to do it for me,
and I want to do it in front of all the people by myself.
JR: If he's sincere, that's very admirable.
(MY TIME PLAYING)
The McMahons are adhering
to the somewhat surprising request.
JERRY: They're going to have to retire back to their plush office
and watch this on a monitor.
I'm sure they wanted to see it up-close and personal.
JR: This match will last one hour.
The man with most falls in the hour wins.
Falls can be earned by pin, submission, disqualification or count-out.
In event of a tie, King, The Rock will retain the WWF Title.
JERRY: Stephanie keeps looking back at her man.
Can you imagine how proud she must be of Triple H right now?
JR: Triple H has challenged, he feels he has something to prove.
JERRY: He's got something to prove, all right. You are right.
The man that issues the challenge has the most to prove.
JR: A true test of will and determination, the ultimate challenge, The Hour.
JERRY: There's still nothing like a good old fashioned love story,
Triple H and Stephanie.
(CROWD CHANTING)
(IF YOU SMELL PLAYING)
(CROWD CHEERING)
JR: Here comes the WWF Champion!
JERRY: Ah!
FINKEL: From Miami, Florida, weighing 275 pounds,
the World Wrestling Federation Champion, The Rock!
JR: There's room for only one man at the top of the WWF mountain,
and in one hour we will know who it is.
Will it be The People's Champion, The Rock, or will it be The Game?
And what role will the referee, Shawn Michaels, play in this epic match-up?
Perhaps the most important WWF Championship match in history.
JERRY: Boy, this atmosphere is something, JR.
It's like the hair stands up on the back of your neck. It's so electrifying in here.
JR: The supreme gut check.
JERRY: Save your energy. Stop pacing.
JR: Physical pain plus emotional distress equals The Hour.
JERRY: What it's all about.
JR: ...has a huge responsibility awaiting him.
CROWD: (CHANTING) Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!
Remember, we're gonna keep score.
We're gonna have a clock on our screen from time to time
to keep you abreast of the time expired.
(BELL RINGING)
JERRY: It starts.
The Hour starts, JR. Here we go.
JR: And set your watches, here we go.
And remember, the man with the most falls at the end of the 60 minutes
will be the WWF Champion.
Falls can be earned by pinfall or submission or count-out or disqualification.
JERRY: Talk a little trash.
Tell him what this hour's gonna be like.
JR: I'm glad neither of those two guys are miked.
JERRY: Yeah.
I wish they were.
JR: So much animosity,
and this awesome rivalry between these two young studs.
JERRY: I think The Rock just said
that Triple H can go and do something to himself, I'm not sure what.
JR: Hard, stiff collar-and-elbow tie-up.
JERRY: Listen to this place, I mean it's electrified.
It's like two bulls.
JR: These two gladiators trying to gain an advantage here.
And one of this stiffer collar-and-elbow tie-ups you're going to see.
Right back at it.
JERRY: See, this is what I talked about earlier.
I mean the amount of energy these guys are expending right now,
this is not smart on either one of their parts.
I know they both want to take it to each other tooth and nail,
but you got to be smart in this match. It's an hour.
JR: Both men trying to gain the advantage here.
And Shawn Michaels' asking for a break. Will he get a clean one from Triple H?
JERRY: Smart thing to do would have been to think all week long
about different offensive moves
that would take very little energy, the least amount of energy.
That's what you need to use.
JR: We are in Louisville, Kentucky, the home of the Kentucky Derby.
This is a Derby Day-like atmosphere here at Judgment Day,
and these two thoroughbreds, yes, indeed, are going to run here for one hour.
JERRY: Yeah.
Kentucky Derby, those thoroughbreds can only run for two minutes.
These guys got to go 60 minutes.
JR: They're not running for the roses, they are running for the WWF Title,
the most coveted title in our business.
The Rock 6'5", 275.
Rock's established a very fast pace, or will he change it up
and throw some off-speed pitches?
JERRY: JR, you cannot establish a fast pace in this type of match.
It just won't work in your favor. It'll work against you.
JR: I'm not advocating that he do that, it is normally what we see from The Rock.
He is a smash mouth, in your face, WWF Champion.
JERRY: I realize that, but hopefully The Rock has realized
he can't do that for 60 minutes.
I've checked on this, the longest match The Rock has ever had in his career
has been 30 minutes long. That's the longest he's ever been in the ring.
JR: And that was in July of '98 with Triple H, by the way.
JERRY: See, these guys are using a lot of energy here.
JR: Overhand wristlock, and look at The Rock, that huge neck bridging.
JERRY: Look at this. This is where your pride works against you.
The Rock is just too proud, too proud to let Triple H get the upper hand.
JR: And Rock turning right back to that side headlock.
Rock using that awesome upper body strength here
to keep the challenger for the WWF Title at bay, at least momentarily.
JR: Blocked shot. He'll go to the cover.
Shawn Michaels in a great position, quite frankly.
A hard knockdown. Another cover... And another near fall.
JR: There's a counter. Cradle!
Two-count, and Triple H says, "What the hell?"
And Triple H is gonna break some momentum here.
I think it may be a smart move by Triple H after three near falls
to break the momentum and give Rock a little time to think about it.
JERRY: Yeah, I don't think that Triple H was expecting that from The Rock.
But you can win this match early.
If you can pile up four or maybe five quick victories early on,
then in the middle part of that match, if things just get sort of even,
you can hang on at the end and win this thing.
One!
JERRY: And I think that's what The Rock has in his mind.
Two!
JR: Obviously, the man that gets the advantage can use the clock
to his advantage much like a tag-team partner.
Triple H taking his time getting back in the ring.
Shawn Michaels at the four. A count-out results at a 10-count.
But The Rock stops the count, may not be the smartest thing for The Rock to do,
even though Triple H is on the top steps
and was in no danger of being counted out on that exchange.
JERRY: Look at these guys. Both these guys already sweating bullets,
it's only been five minutes.
JR...
JERRY: Oh, man.
We're gonna find out if Triple H really is The Game.
JR: Triple H, a technical marvel, quite frankly.
The conditioning of both these men is absolutely amazing.
JERRY: We're gonna find out if Rock really is The Great One.
JR: Big right hand by The Rock.
JERRY: That's layin' the smackdown, right there.
JR: He may have taken a... Busted a lip, or...
...or could have swallowed some teeth on that one.
Huge right hand by The Rock.
JERRY: See, on a shot like that, now, it is very smart to get out of the ring.
You can't get pinned out there.
JR: But you can be counted out.
Which counts the same as a pinfall.
JERRY: Okay, I'll give you that.
SHAWN: Four!
JERRY: It's gonna take you to the count of 10 to get counted out,
as opposed to the count of three to get pinned.
Plus, obviously, you can get the ref to stop his count.
Uh-oh. Or maybe you can't.
JR: Triple H tried to get a break there from HBK, but to no avail.
HBK did not stop the count.
That was seven before the challenger returned to the ring.
Triple H, a master strategist.
Sometimes I think The Rock is more of an instinctive competitor,
where Triple H is more calculating.
JERRY: I'd love to know what each of these guys are thinking right now.
JR: The intimidating hour.
We are in the process of a WWF Iron Man Match.
JERRY: Every time they've locked up, Rock has just instinctively
and automatically gone for that headlock.
It's a controlling hold.
You can do a lot of things from that headlock.
Uh-oh!
JR: Right hand. Triple H tried to leapfrog, The Rock saw it coming apparently.
JERRY: Here we go.
JR: Now, Triple H nailed into the turnbuckles.
Face-first.
The Rock has fallen. Triple H in! Caught the elbow.
And then the knockdown by The Game with a clothesline.
JERRY: I think The Rock was thinking Rock Bottom, but Triple H had other ideas.
JR: Triple H with a thunderous clothesline regaining the offensive advantage here
from the WWF Champion.
JERRY: Almost eight minutes into this, JR,
no falls, no pinfalls, no count-outs as yet.
JR: As we said earlier, the last WWF Iron Man Match
was at WrestleMania XII, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart,
and there were no falls in the first 60 minutes of that match.
JR: If I remember correctly.
Michaels admonishing the use of the illegal fist.
The Game measures The Rock again.
JERRY: I can see this match doing it, JR. I can see these guys,
neither one of them being able to gain an advantage,
neither one of them being able to get a pinfall on the other.
JR: There are no athletes in this business with any more pride
than The Game and the WWF Champion.
JERRY: If that's the case, if neither one gets a pinfall
or submission at the end of an hour,
The Rock would retain the title.
JR: And that's what we call the championship advantage.
I think, in my opinion, anyway, as it should be.
JERRY: To his credit, The Game didn't disagree with that.
The Game made sure that that was brought out in the stipulations.
JR: Certainly did.
Arm barred. Torque on the elbow of The Rock by The Game.
Standing over The Rock, there's a great leverage advantage, folks.
JERRY: Shawn Michaels, I think he is looking around.
There's the clock up there, Shawn.
It's barely nine minutes into this thing.
JR: Rock with three or four shots to the face.
JERRY: The pace is starting to pick up.
JR: Armbar takedown.
And The Rock hurting... Here's a cover.
And a long two-count.
Triple H had the arm barred then the armbar takedown
and now trying to hyper-extend the elbow of The Rock.
JERRY: Check this out, JR. There's the clock.
We're right at 10 minutes into this thing...
JERRY: No score, not only that.
If you notice, Shawn Michaels' calling this thing right down the middle.
JR: Maybe we overthought the Shawn Michaels element in this match-up.
JERRY: I just couldn't help but smell a rat
when Linda McMahon signed Shawn Michaels to be the referee here.
JR: What do you mean by that?
JERRY: Linda's always trying to throw a monkey wrench into her husband's plans.
And I can't understand why.
She's had the life of Riley, thanks to Vince McMahon.
JR: That's offensive, what you're saying.
Rock back up to his feet, takes some of the pressure off that arm.
Shawn Michaels asking for the break.
JERRY: What do you mean, that's offensive?
JR: Right hand. That was offensive right there.
That's probably a five-yard penalty in the XFL.
JERRY: The Rock, he's opening it up.
JR: Rock never tries that.
JR: The Rock Bottom. The Rock Bottom.
(BELL RINGING)
FINKEL: The winner of the fall, The Rock.
JR: So The Rock is up one to nothing at the 49-minute mark.
So 11 minutes, approximately, in this match-up,
if you're keeping score at home The Rock goes up one to nothing.
JERRY: But you know what, if you look at this realistically, The Rock's...
It's almost like being up two
because if this thing ends in a tie The Rock wins still.
Because it's a tie.
JR: No rest period between falls.
JERRY: There's no rest period?
JR: This match's clock continues to run.
JERRY: Who put that rule in? Not The Game.
JR: And The Game, after suffering the Rock Bottom,
is walking around like he's drunk and he's not even a drinker.
JERRY: Well, he's loopy.
JR: That Rock Bottom will tend to do that to you.
Now both men on the outside here, and both could be counted out
if Shawn Michaels decides to call this at the letter of the law.
Look out. Reversal!
The Game ribs-first into the steel.
JERRY: This is not good for The Game.
JR: If you get an injury with 47 minutes left in a match,
that will be a hellacious challenge to overcome.
JERRY: It will be devastating.
Any one of these moves can cause an injury out here.
JR: Reversal, and Rock got dropped face-first.
Right on the railing.
JERRY: Shawn is asking The Rock if he wants to...
Asks him if he wants to give it up,
I don't think The Rock's gonna give it up out here.
JR: Triple H bought himself a little bit of time. And Triple H, intelligence.
I tell you, I'm surprised Triple H didn't get back in the ring
and see if Rock got counted out. That counts the same as a pinfall.
That may be exactly what Triple H's gonna do here.
Beat Rock up enough on the outside,
to where the WWF Champion can't reenter the ring.
JERRY: Oh. Look at this. Oh, no.
JR: Triple H taking a big chance there.
He may have dinged that knee, but returns with a right hand.
JERRY: I got to give Shawn Michaels credit for one more thing.
He is letting these guys go at it,
and that's what the people want, that's what these two guys want.
They want to settle... Ooh, wow.
JR: I just wonder, though, King,
what's gonna happen as this match progresses here tonight.
Will we see the same sort of down the middle officiating by Shawn Michaels?
JR: Suplex outside back in.
Could be another fall here...
And Triple H got a shoulder up just before the three.
The Rock up one to nothing at the 46 minute mark.
JERRY: For all the controversy that's been surrounding Shawn Michaels,
you can't argue with him so far.
I'm telling you, if The Rock could get another fall,
you get up two falls, that may be insurmountable for The Game.
JR: Exactly, I'll tell you something right here.
If The Rock can take The Game's legs from him,
as he is doing right now.
That's gonna change the whole complexion and the whole strategy of this match.
JERRY: And remember from this point and for every fall The Rock takes now,
Triple H has got to take two to be able to win.
JERRY: Right.
Rock can.
JR: Rock can, but Triple H cannot.
Triple H barely able to function here. And again The Rock...
JERRY: I think Triple H is realizing that outside that ring is not friendly confines.
You want to get back inside the ring, Triple H, oh, look out.
Look out. Oh, my gosh!
JR: Did you hear the knee smack on those steps?
JERRY: I heard it, I heard it. Triple H felt it.
Tell him, Shawn, get back inside.
JR: Triple H, he may have one hellacious time standing now.
And let's see if The Rock can exploit that injured knee of Triple H.
JERRY: Oh, my gosh.
JR: One way to bring him out of the corner.
And now The Rock focusing on that left knee.
JERRY: Let me tell you something, I'm concerned.
We're now 15 minutes into this, and I think Triple H is...
Oh, my gosh!
JR: That quadricep, that thigh muscle, the biggest muscle in your body,
and The Rock trying to charley-horse it up, knot it up.
JERRY: I'm worried about Triple H's stamina. I know he told us he's The Game,
but he's looking like he's worn down.
JR: We got to see how he plays through pain.
There's no doubt that that knee's got to be aching.
JERRY: Did he overestimate or did he underestimate
what the hour was gonna be like?
JERRY: Oh, no.
JR: I've only seen The Rock do this one other time in his career.
He's got the Figure Four on The Game.
JERRY: Look at Shawn, he's right in the face of Triple H.
He wants... Is he gonna ring it?
JR: Triple H is writhing in pain.
The Game's leg could be snapped at any moment.
JERRY: He cannot go down two-nothing, JR, it'll be over.
It will be game over.
JR: Triple H, what's he gonna do here?
JERRY: He's begging.
JR: The Rock's got the Figure Four locked in.
The longer Triple H stays in this, the more damage it's doing to his legs.
The count!
The pain so excruciating,
The Game wasn't aware of his shoulders being down.
I'm not so sure that he shouldn't give up. He's got 43 minutes.
JERRY: No, no, he can't give up on this.
He cannot afford to get down two to nothing.
JR: King, what if his leg is broken?
JR: That's my point.
And The Rock has got this Figure Four... There's another count!
JERRY: Oh, whoa. That was close.
You're right, The Rock's got it cinched in.
I don't see him getting out of this.
JR: The Game has got to think of some strategy or something here.
JERRY: He's gonna try and turn The Rock. He's gonna try and reverse this.
JR: If The Rock goes on The Rock's stomach, advantage Game.
JR: Triple H...
Triple H expending a hell of a lot of energy to try to turn The Rock.
And there's another count.
Another near fall. That's three of them from this Figure Four.
JERRY: Again, he's giving it every single thing he's got in his body.
He's got him! He's got him! He's got him! He's got him!
No, he don't. He's almost got him.
JR: And The Rock is being punished by the Figure Four.
JERRY: Look at that.
Triple H has reversed it.
JR: The pressure and the pain has reversed to The Rock.
JERRY: But believe me, that's still painful on Triple H.
JR: And both The Rock and The Game are in the ropes.
One!
And referee Shawn Michaels calling for a break.
Three!
JR: And what toll did the Figure Four have on both these magnificent competitors?
JERRY: I think it was worse on Triple H than it was The Rock.
Yeah, you could tell it right now.
JR: Rock doesn't seem to be limping, and Triple H is having a hard time standing.
JERRY: Hey, wait a minute, here.
JR: Both men on the outside, and referee as well.
The Rock now really has physically asserted himself after that Figure Four.
JERRY: I don't like it when they come over here.
JR: And The Game reverses The Rock.
What a shot that was by Triple H.
Almost beheaded The Rock.
JERRY: You hear Shawn Michaels telling Triple H to get in the ring, I agree.
Get in the ring because the count-out is as good as a pinfall.
Get in the ring, Triple H.
JR: Just over 40 minutes to go, with The Rock up one fall to none.
JERRY: 40 minutes right now, JR, is like two days.
JR: Triple H is...
I don't know how smart this is.
I thought Triple H had bought himself some time,
but showing the tenacity of The Game, he's right back out in The Rock's face
in this sea of humanity.
JERRY: Get out of the way, you goofs.
JR: And The Rock and Triple H having one hell of a fist fight.
JERRY: It is a fight. It's a brawl.
This is not smart. Anything could happen to you out there.
JR: Absolutely, this is really no man's land out here.
Triple H just back-dropped The Rock
from the concrete side to the ringside area.
JERRY: Get in there, Shawn.
JR: I think Triple H got the better of the exchange on the outside.
And again Shawn Michaels not using his counts.
JERRY: How could you tell who got the better out there?
JR: Because Triple H was standing and The Rock was down.
JERRY: I think some fan took a cheap shot and slugged Triple H.
Look at that score, one to nothing The Rock.
JR: Just under 40 minutes remaining in this WWF Iron Man
for the World Wrestling Federation Championship.
JERRY: Big suplex.
JR: What a suplex by Triple H, taking down The Rock.
JERRY: Drive the wind out of The Rock's body.
JR: Triple H trying to shake that feeling back in the knee, and he comes with the elbow.
And drove the point of the elbow right down in the sternum of The Rock.
King, I'll tell you what...
Doesn't matter who's gonna win this match, who's gonna lose this match...
JERRY: What do you mean it doesn't matter?
JR: This 60 minutes, these men may never ever be the same again in their lives.
JR: There's a cover, and there's count.
Oh! And a near fall.
JERRY: I agree they may never be the same, but believe me it matters who wins.
JR: And another cover! The Rock expending a hell of a lot of energy and strength.
JERRY: Right, look at that. Look at his shoulder, look at his arm shaking.
Come on, Rock.
JR: Triple H forcing The Rock back down.
Shawn Michaels got a good look at those shoulders.
The Rock, will he stay down this time? No, he won't.
JERRY: Watch his knee. Come on,
put that knee back right in his heart like you did before, Triple H.
JR: Triple H forcing the shoulders. Here we are... And The Rock again...
And now the lateral press, and that doesn't work.
JERRY: No, it's gonna take more than that.
JR: Triple H has got to be getting somewhat frustrated at this juncture.
JERRY: Got that right.
Somebody needs to reach down right now, I don't know which one,
but somebody needs to reach down and come up with some sort of flurry.
They need to come out with some firepower right here.
I don't think either of them would... Here it comes.
JR: Rock's hands are down. His head is a target.
And The Rock back to that knee.
Rock back to the knee that he punished with the Figure Four leglock earlier.
Fighting back.
Oh, my God! The Rock!
His back just hit our table.
And the table's not gonna move much.
JERRY: No, it's not.
You know what, Shawn should be counting... There we go, count!
JERRY: Oh, my.
JR: Rock could get counted out
and it would even the score here at one apiece.
But Triple H...
Triple H now coming around, that's gonna break the count,
which may have been a little slow.
JERRY: I think that he sees an opportunity for a bigger advantage. Oh, no!
JR: The knees of Triple H right into the steel steps.
Both knees of Triple H right into the steel steps.
And that left knee of Triple H just got turned inside out.
JERRY: That could be real bad.
JR: There'll be another patient for Dr. Jim Andrews,
the famed orthopedic surgeon in Birmingham, Alabama.
And that left knee of Triple H took a pounding.
JERRY: Wow.
JR: Rock will be well served to go right back to those knees.
And Triple H, he's using the ropes to keep himself upright.
And The Rock now. He's got that...
JR: Oh!
That'll break the leg. Like to broke the leg.
Watch this shot. Watch Triple H's left knee here.
JERRY: Oh, my gosh.
JR: Excellent camera work there taking you right downtown.
And The Rock ripping at that knee.
Driving the elbow again right into the knee of Triple H.
You can't win if your legs are gone.
And it looks like Triple H's legs are almost gone.
Rock with the leg grapevine.
He's trying to put the pressure on the knee, the left knee of The Game.
And Shawn Michaels...
Rock's head exposed.
Triple H would go for that, you got to believe.
JERRY: I'm gonna tell you,
this is what I said earlier as this match was just getting under way,
I got to hand it to The Rock because he is using the right strategy.
I was thinking that The Rock was gonna go out there, fist and fire,
and expend all of his energy, but he hasn't done that.
He's paced himself.
JR: And we thought, or at least I thought, going into this match-up,
it would be the very cerebral Triple H
dictating the pace over the very emotional Rock.
JR: It certainly has.
JERRY: And Rock's got the advantage, he's up one.
JR: Triple H raking the eyes.
I don't care how strong you are, those eyes are so sensitive.
And Triple H, he just raked The Rock right in the face, right through the eyes.
And again, The Game bought himself a little bit of time.
But I don't know if there enough time, 35 minutes left.
If he can back in this ballgame, even though he's only down one to nothing.
JERRY: Only one to nothing? (CHUCKLES)
That's huge in a match like this, JR.
JR: More right hands by Triple H.
Wait a minute. The Rock right back on the knee.
Right back on the knee, is The Rock.
Will he go for the Figure Four again?
JERRY: This could stay at one to nothing. There might not be any more falls.
JR: And The Rock looking for the Figure Four, and Triple H countered.
JERRY: Uh-oh!
JR: Triple H is going for...
He got a Pedigree! Pedigree!
He countered the Figure Four.
There's a Pedigree. Is it? Yes, it is.
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
At 34 minutes and 30 seconds...
FINKEL: Winner of the fall, Triple H!
JR: We are tied!
JERRY: Roll back on him! You can get another fall!
You can get another quick fall!
JR: We are tied at one.
JERRY: Oh, Triple H, you're making a huge mistake here.
He's working with his elbow pads. He should be back on top of The Rock.
There's no rest period. You said it, JR.
JR: The Game now, that's a blatant choke.
Shawn Michaels is not going to let this go.
He's physically pulled Triple H off of a chokehold.
JERRY: Thought there was no disqualification.
JR: No, there is.
You get disqualified, it counts the same as a pinfall,
or a submission, or a count-out.
JERRY: I know. I know that. I'm just testing you. You're on top of things. Good job.
JR: Great right hands by The Game after delivering an awesome Pedigree.
The Rock's brain's still got to be rattled.
JR: There's a counter.
Oh, look out! There's an inside cradle. Inside cradle!
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
The Rock now goes down, two to one.
FINKEL: Winner of the fall, Triple H.
JR: I don't know if The Rock has recovered from the Pedigree.
JERRY: This is big! This is huge!
JR: The Rock's head driven to the canvas by the Pedigree of Triple H.
JERRY: Right. Rock, he's in la-la-land.
Look at his eyes, JR. His head's full of cobwebs.
JR: And Triple H's got to be valedictorian of wrestling school
to go right back on the Isle of Rock.
JERRY: Look at Rock, he is out of it.
JR: The Rock's eyes are glazed over.
JERRY: Get another one. You can get another one quick here.
JR: If this was boxing, the referee might stop it.
And look at The Rock, instinctively fighting back
with a right hand, he's leaving his left hand down to his side.
This is nothing but guts and instinct by the WWF Champion,
who may now realize that he's down two to one.
JERRY: Let him stay out there and go for a count-out here, Triple H.
Got a free one here.
JR: All The Rock's got to do is tie it up and then hold out.
Come on. Get back in the ring.
JR: Because a tie score,
advantage WWF Champion.
JERRY: Yeah, but right now it's advantage The Game.
JR: The Rock just has not looked the same or reacted the same
or has been the same since that Pedigree.
JERRY: Yeah, but remember that Figure Four?
When Rock had The Game in the Figure Four?
Who would've thought that Triple H would survive that
and actually be up one now?
JR: Triple H limping noticeably.
JERRY: Wait, wait, wait. Rock's leaving.
JR: Rock doesn't even know where he is. And that's not going to help matters.
A shot to the back of the head by The Game.
JERRY: Why is he trying to leave?
JR: I don't think The Rock knows where he is.
JR: The Rock!
He countered again. Oh, my God!
That was a shot.
The impact of that could be felt right through your television set.
JERRY: Come on, Shawn. Get 'em back in the ring.
JR: Shawn Michaels, he's not going to count these men out, apparently.
JERRY: I'm glad. I like that.
JR: And The Rock, what's he going to do here?
JERRY: And even if Shawn did count 'em both out...
JR: Countered! Rock countered! Right on the carpet.
And that's covering the concrete floor.
That's no padding.
JERRY: As I was saying, even if Shawn counted them both out,
it wouldn't matter, wouldn't affect the score. Be a fall for each of 'em.
JERRY: Right.
JR: Yes. That carpet is there for aesthetic purposes.
Not for protection, I can assure you.
CROWD: (CHANTING) Rocky! Rocky!
JR: And that is concrete those two gladiators are lying on.
And we are almost halfway through this tremendous match-up.
JR: The Rock up two to one
with just over 30 minutes to go in this WWF Iron Man Match
for the World Wrestling Federation Championship.
JERRY: JR, JR, JR, you said The Rock's up two to one. Triple H is up two to one.
JERRY: Right.
You're just speaking what you wish. You wish The Rock was up two to one.
Watch your back, Rock. Watch your back.
JR: The champion and the challenger, coming back our way.
Oh, my God! The Rock, his heart was in the suplex, his body wasn't.
The fatigue's got to be setting in on both these men,
as Triple H's head just bounced off the concrete.
JERRY: In seven seconds, The Rock will equal
the longest match he's ever had in his career.
Two, one...
JR: As will Triple H, King.
JERRY: Right now this is officially the longest match The Rock has ever been in.
JR: And Triple H! Let's tell it like it is.
JERRY: Yeah, but The Rock looks a little more tired.
Let's see if Hunter hit his head here. Watch it!
JR: It bounced.
Triple H's head bouncing off that concrete, scrambling his brains.
And The Rock now may have shaken the cobwebs loose
of that Pedigree that he sustained earlier.
It's The Rock down two to one.
And these two men just beating the hell out of each other on the outside.
And Shawn Michaels is...
JERRY: Shawn Michaels is the only one back in the ring.
He's begging these guys to get in the ring. Look out!
JR: My God! Triple H back-dropped on the concrete.
That's three high-impact moves by Triple H on the concrete.
How much more can his chiseled anatomy take?
(SPEAKING INDISTINCTLY)
JERRY: Did you hear that?
JR: Shawn Michaels said we're not going to have any, uh, BS count-outs.
JERRY: Oh, say what he said!
They're going to fight till they get back in the ring. I agree.
I got to admire Shawn Michaels, he's calling it down the middle.
JR: For over half an hour, Shawn Michaels has officiated a hell of a match.
JERRY: Of course, a double count-out wouldn't affect the score anyway,
and that's why Shawn said we're not going to have one of those.
JR: And The Rock.
JERRY: Like I said, I got to admire The Rock's strategy here.
He keeps going back to the legs of Triple H
because he knows that's Triple H's weak point at this time.
But you know, down in your heart,
The Rock would love to just start laying the smackdown on him.
JR: And that may happen.
The Rock may be looking for another Rock Bottom.
JERRY: Oh!
JERRY: Some smack.
Look, JR, you can tell that the fatigue factor is really setting in now.
JR: On both guys. On both these athletes.
JERRY: Who do you think's the most tired?
JR: Gosh, that'd be hard to say.
Facebuster. Nice move there. That could do it there.
And Triple H going for the... No, not the Pedigree.
JR: It's a piledriver!
JERRY: He can do it all!
JR: Triple H went from the Pedigree position to a piledriver!
JERRY: Piledriver always works.
JR: My God!
And The Game is now up three to one.
FINKEL: The winner of the fall, Triple H!
JERRY: Count him again there! There's no rest, and he's still got him covered, Shawn!
JR: Triple H, I thought he may have gotten another cover right there.
JERRY: How much time's left?
JR: Twenty-seven minutes.
JERRY: At this point, if I were Triple H, you know what I'd do?
JERRY: Right.
JR: Play defense. Take no chances.
JERRY: Now you're talking. Sure you never wrestled before, JR?
JR: Just me and the English language a few times.
Right now The Rock has got to get back in this thing in a hurry.
JERRY: He's at a huge disadvantage.
JR: The clock now is a huge enemy to the WWF Champion.
And both these men somehow are back up.
The Rock feeling the right hand by The Game.
The Game, you got to believe he'll take no high risk in the next 26 minutes and change.
JERRY: I'll tell you one high risk The Game took.
He told us at the beginning of this match he was going to do it on his own.
He sent Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and his wife Stephanie to the back.
That was risky right there.
JR: And it was certainly, again, if it was sincere,
it was a hell of a maneuver by The Game, quite frankly.
The Rock exploded! He exploded, did The Rock, out of the corner!
JR: You're exactly right.
JR: That caught Triple H unaware.
Triple H, however, reverses and catches The Rock.
The pace has quickened here.
Here we go! There's a cover! There's a cover! And a near fall.
JERRY: Oh!
I'm telling you, The Rock can definitely not afford to get down any more to Triple H.
JR: Man, these guys, with 26 minutes left,
reached down and came up with a hellacious offensive flurry that took it to another gear.
My question is where are they getting it? Where's it coming from?
JERRY: I don't know. But I think Triple H has got something
even more devastating in mind.
JR: The Game now, up on top.
And I don't know... Look out.
JERRY: Look out! Oh, my gosh!
JR: The Game got arm drug right off the top rope.
And now both these men are down.
JERRY: Triple H, that is not being defensive. What are you doing now?
JR: They're in the ring, Shawn Michaels could count 'em both out.
JR: But it will keep up the odds,
the advantage, still two for Triple H. He's ahead three to one.
Shawn Michaels is doing his job,
and, quite frankly, he's doing a hell of a good job.
JERRY: Yeah. But I'm telling you, he's got to keep counting here.
But if somebody pops up,
looks like The Rock's about to get to his feet, and the other one doesn't...
Rock's almost up. Is he at nine?
JR: He's at eight. And The Rock...
JR: Triple H is stirring.
The count stops at nine.
JERRY: Oh, man!
JR: The Rock's best offense tonight has been those right hands.
Sans one Rock Bottom.
JERRY: Those echoed all throughout Freedom Hall here.
JR: And The Rock is letting freedom ring with those big-time right hands.
JERRY: I would think that this would be a good time to get out of there, Hunter.
Take a powder.
JR: Triple H could get counted out but still be up one.
JERRY: I don't mean get out of there and get counted out.
I mean, just take a nine-count or something.
JR: Rock met Triple H with the reverse elbow, knocking down The Game.
And now The Rock... Pinning predicament here.
There's a cradle. One, two... And that was close.
And The Rock now, quickening the pace.
And a high knee by The Game caught The Rock in the face.
JERRY: Another fall for Triple H.
JR: How close was that one!
JERRY: Four to one would've been impossible to come back from.
JR: You're right. That might have been insurmountable for The Rock.
I don't think The Rock can afford, with 23 and a half minutes left,
JERRY: Rock's cut. He's bleeding.
These guys are just...
I bet he's asking Shawn how much time's left.
Rock, I can tell you.
JERRY: Almost 24 minutes still left to go.
JR: Rock took a shot above his right eye, that won't stop him.
We've seen Triple H bust The Rock open before.
JERRY: Look at that. Triple H sees that blood, and he's going for it like a shark.
JR: After their bodies have been ravaged by concrete,
after they've done everything
to each other, I don't know how these two studs are standing.
Maybe I just answered my own question.
JERRY: I think Triple H is about to not be standing.
JR: Triple H reverses The Rock. Caught in the sleeper.
What a smart move, the sleeper hold.
The Rock, as is Triple H, very fatigued.
And then Triple H cutting off the flow of blood to the brain.
The Rock's got to counter somehow.
JERRY: Yeah, but Triple H has not got it on good.
He's got to get around behind The Rock.
Get around, make your way behind The Rock,
where you can get that pressure fully on him.
JR: But, King...
JERRY: I see it, but it's on the side of The Rock.
JR: But you got to factor in the fatigue.
JERRY: Oh, he's got him now. He's behind The Rock.
JR: Triple H has got that Figure Four locked in.
JR: Or, the sleeper.
I'm thinking of the Figure Four of The Rock. I'm sorry.
JERRY: Come on. I think he's out.
JR: Referee's got to check The Rock's arms.
And The Rock is fading, and fading fast, and so may be the WWF Title.
JERRY: If he keeps that cinched up, if The Rock goes out here,
Triple H can get more than one fall. He can get two, maybe three.
JR: The Rock holding on
somehow, some way.
Now Triple H getting an unfair advantage.
JERRY: Getting that extra leverage.
JR: Shawn Michaels down checking on The Rock, didn't see the feet.
JERRY: Maybe he did.
JR: And of course, The Game denying that he was using the ropes for additional leverage.
That can't be surprising.
JERRY: I'll tell you something. I'm getting a bad feeling about Shawn Michaels.
He's always been controversial.
And I feel something's gonna happen here with Shawn Michaels.
JR: Shawn Michaels has been mired in controversy in this company for 12 years,
since the first day he came here with Marty Jannetty.
JERRY: Look at this, JR. Look at this.
Rock's going down.
JR: The Rock holding on.
JERRY: Oh, look at this.
JR: And again, The Game. And this time The Game got caught.
Shawn Michaels doing some officiating here.
JERRY: Uh-oh. Look at this. I told you, JR.
JR: Almost 40 minutes have gone by.
JR: Triple H up three to one.
JERRY: See, soon as I said it. Here goes.
Oh!
JR: The Rock takes it to Triple H with three, four right hands.
Again, Triple H counters,
he reverses the whip and goes right back with the sleeper.
And The Rock counters with a belly-to-belly, and both men are down.
Both men are down!
JERRY: Boy, Rock needed to capitalize on it, but I don't think he can.
He's got 20 minutes to get two falls.
He's trying to pull himself over.
JR: Boy, the hour, the intimidating hour.
JERRY: No! Here it is.
JR: There's a cover! One, two... No, not three.
JR: It was close.
A long, long two.
JERRY: That not only takes it physically out of The Rock,
it takes it out of him emotionally.
He knows he needs it.
He came that close to getting it, and then it was snatched away from him.
JR: Both men back up somehow. The Rock goes back to that big-time right hand of his.
He's dancing with what brung him, the right hand.
JERRY: Oh!
JR: The Rock pulling over for a DDT! DDT!
JERRY: That did it! That did it!
JR: And The Rock pulls within one!
FINKEL: Winner of the fall, The Rock!
JR: At 19:20 left, The Rock pulls within one.
JERRY: Triple H is still up in this.
But if The Rock covers him again, he can get another quick fall. Rock!
JR: Easy to say, King. You've been in there for an hour, you know how it is.
Your body, your mind starts playing a lot of tricks on you.
JERRY: It's miserable. I'll guarantee you it's miserable.
But you got to keep your senses.
You got to think at all times or you won't win.
JR: For some reason, The Rock, with Triple H by the hair,
is bringing the challenger on the outside.
JERRY: See, problem is when you're this tired, JR, you're not thinking straight.
When you get your head bounced off a steel step,
you're not thinking at all.
JR: The Rock somehow, some way, overcame the sleeper.
Uh-oh. They're headed our way. I don't like this.
Get 'em in the ring. Shawn?
We got to get... I don't know what...
JERRY: Look out!
JR: Triple H's head bounced off this wooden table.
It's a wonder he didn't get busted open there from that shot
face-first on the ring table, the timekeeper's table.
Oh! The Rock got it.
JERRY: JR, these guys are dangerously close. I don't like this.
JR: And they are in a desperate state, to say the very least.
JERRY: Shawn, Shawn, could you please get 'em back in the ring?
JR, a chair!
JR: Triple H got a chair. Shawn Michaels has unarmed Triple H.
Right hand by The Rock, and another right hand.
JERRY: But you know what, Shawn may have just saved
Triple H from a disqualification.
JR: Oh, man!
JR: That impact was sickening.
JERRY: It looked like one too.
JR: Triple H's anatomy, his shoulder, and those steel steps was ugly.
The Game trying to create some distance between himself and the WWF Champion.
JERRY: And feel it.
God! Man!
Are we safe for the moment?
JR: Seventeen minutes left. The Rock down one.
JR: Neckbreaker on the outside by The Rock.
Again, Shawn Michaels on the outside, with Triple H up one, three to two.
JERRY: Means nothing.
Rock, you need to get back in the ring, you're down.
You got to do it in the ring.
JR: I think he knows that, he feels that, he senses that,
does the WWF Champion.
JERRY: He needs to hit about four or five People's Elbows right in a row.
JR: The Rock.
JERRY: I think Triple H has finally figured out what we said. Try to avoid... Uh-oh!
JR: A chair!
Triple H got the chair on The Rock!
JR: He's calling for the bell.
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
JR: That's a disqualification.
FINKEL: The winner of the fall, as a result of a disqualification, The Rock!
JR: So, we are tied.
That was a gutsy call by Triple H's friend, Shawn Michaels.
JERRY: That was a stupid...
I think Triple H didn't think that Shawn would call that
because they're friends. Look at this!
JR: The Game is has got...
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
The Game just pinned The Rock, goes back up one.
FINKEL: The winner of the fall, Triple H.
JERRY: Boy, how smart is The Game. Did you see that?
Uh-oh. Look, I think Rock's busted.
JR: That's why Triple H used the chair on The Rock.
And The Rock has been busted open by that steel chair shot right to his head.
JR: Triple H, he just...
JERRY: The Rock is asking Shawn, "How bad am I?"
He's asking Shawn Michaels, "How bad am I busted?"
JR: The other issue is The Rock is down one with just over 15 minutes to go
in this WWF Iron Man match-up.
JERRY: I'm going to tell you something.
I gotta say that was probably one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen done
in the history of this business. You got to hand it to The Game.
He laid The Rock's head wide open. He knew the toll that was going to take.
And then he snuck right in and got the advantage again.
JR: Fifteen minutes left, three-quarters of the way home, in this match-up.
Triple H sacrificed a disqualification
to inflict the damage and the pain on The Rock
with that steel chair shot right to The Rock's skull.
JERRY: Now, let me ask you this, JR.
What would happen if that blood,
you can see how it's flowing out of The Rock's head...
Can Shawn Michaels stop this? What if he stops it?
JR: I have no idea if that's been factored into the rules, King, to be honest with you.
Sleeper hold now applied by The Game.
JERRY: I can only say, think how proud Stephanie must be of her man,
watching back there from her luxury suite.
JR: The Rock got hammered with a steel chair.
He's got to be literally out on his feet.
The Game going back to that sleeper hold
to restrict the flow of blood to the brain on a man that's already half knocked out.
JERRY: I don't know if that's a good idea.
I think I'd try to let as much blood flow as possible.
Let the blood get in The Rock's eyes, let him taste his own blood.
JR: That's what he's doing, King. He's squeezing his head. For God's sakes, man!
JERRY: Yeah, but he's cutting the blood off to his head.
JR: Are you nuts?
The Rock is barely moving.
JERRY: Are you questioning Triple H's strategy after that brilliant chair shot?
JR: No. I'm questioning your logic.
Shawn Michaels checking the hand.
The chair shot and this sleeper hold,
JERRY: Uh-oh!
JR: Rock trying to hold on.
Rock trying to grab hair, anything he can.
That's got to be nothing but adrenaline getting the WWF Champion back into it.
Guts, adrenaline, those right hands not as effective as they once were.
JR: The Game right back to the sleeper.
JERRY: Boy, if The Game could actually get piggyback on Rock,
if he could put all his weight on The Rock,
plus cutting off the blood supply and the oxygen supply to The Rock's head,
it would be over.
JERRY: Oh, look at that.
JR: Rock's eyes almost rolling back in his head.
JERRY: I think I heard Shawn Michaels say, "This is it." And I agree.
JR: Rock, his arms are not moving, his hands are not moving.
The Rock with that far, far away look in his eye.
JR: And now his eyes...
He doesn't know where he is.
JERRY: Look at that picture, JR. I hope you're taking notes.
JR: Rock frothing at the mouth.
One more drop.
JERRY: Rock is The Great One, but Triple H is The Game.
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
And Triple H goes up two at 12:30.
FINKEL: Winner of the fall, Triple H!
JERRY: Now, hold on. Get another one.
JR: And Shawn Michaels warning Triple H to break the hold.
JERRY: Hey, look at this. Wait a minute now.
JR: And Michaels breaking the hold all right.
You got to break the hold after the decision is rendered.
JR: You could go right back to it.
JERRY: Look out is right.
JR: HBK and Triple H
having more than words.
JERRY: Triple H, keep your cool.
JR: The clock at 12 minutes remaining.
JERRY: Think, think. You got to think now.
JR: With The Rock down two falls.
JERRY: Defense. Be defensive. Don't alienate the referee.
JR: Don't get disqualified.
JERRY: Triple H has just got too much pride.
JR: You've got to use some logic.
You can't be emotional in a very emotional situation.
JERRY: What's that saying? Pride comes before a fall.
Be careful.
JR: Look at Rock. He doesn't have a clue where he is.
He can barely stand. He got hit in the head with a chair.
His head's been busted open, but he comes back with a right.
Triple H walked into a right hand. Another right hand!
The Rock in a desperation mode here.
JERRY: Got that right. I don't know where he's getting it from, but he's getting it.
JR: Oh, my God! Cameraman down!
Triple H is down.
JERRY: Cameraman may be knocked out.
JR: And The Rock is down two falls
with 11 minutes to go in this WWF Iron Man match-up.
JERRY: Oh, my gosh!
JERRY: Here comes The Rock.
JR: This has been awesome.
JERRY: It's far from over.
JR: They've hammered each other damn near 50 minutes.
JERRY: Back into the ring.
JR: The Rock knows he can't win it on the outside.
He's got to get The Game back in the ring.
The Rock's got to get a fall, he's got to get it quick.
JERRY: He's got 10 minutes. Look at this. Watch this, JR.
JR: This is some impact.
JERRY: Triple H hurled over the ring right into our cameraman.
JR: Cameraman getting some hazard pay for this one.
JERRY: One more shot of this.
JR: Triple H just nailed The Rock.
And that could be another cover.
This'll put the nail in the coffin. This'll put it out of reach.
And The Rock got his shoulders up.
Somehow, some way, the WWF Champion got his left shoulder off the canvas
at the 10-minute mark.
JERRY: You're exactly right. That would've definitely, as you said, put it out of reach.
I'm afraid it's out of reach already. Look at that. Five to three with 9:57 to go.
JR: Over 50 minutes has elapsed.
JERRY: Every precious second that ticks off that clock goes against The Rock.
JR: And again, The Game going up top. May not be the most prudent move.
But he wanted to...
JERRY: Be defensive!
JR: The Game... Was that ego or was he just addled?
JERRY: It's ego, it's huge.
JR: And The Rock using Triple H's head like a punching bag.
JR: The Rock pugnacious, and a head-butt.
Triple H has rarely used that maneuver. That has got to be out of desperation.
JERRY: Right. 'Cause that's going to hurt Triple H as much it does The Rock.
JR: The Game trying to navigate on that second turnbuckle.
The Rock returns with a right hand.
JERRY: I don't think The Rock's got enough power left to do this.
JERRY: He got him!
JR: Both men! A superplex off the top!
A superplex off the top!
It is nut-cutting time at 8:45.
JERRY: Nut-cutting time? Come on, Rock. Come on, Triple H.
Somebody's got to do something here.
JR: The supreme gut check is how we described it earlier.
It has never been more prominent than here and now.
JERRY: Rock's stirring, JR.
But look, every time The Rock's head is down, a pool of blood.
JR: The Rock trying to roll over.
JERRY: He needs it.
JR: There's Rock with the cover!
Oh, my God! How close!
And that may have been The Rock's last chance.
JERRY: I think you're right.
JR: Triple H up five to three.
JERRY: I think Rock is realizing it.
JR: And we are eight minutes left.
JERRY: It's slipping away and he knows it.
JR: Just under eight minutes to go.
Where Triple H with an apparent insurmountable lead here,
up two falls.
JERRY: Rock, somehow you got to go. You have got to reach way down in there.
JR: Oh.
Rock catching Triple H with a hellacious elbow.
JERRY: Both of these guys are exhausted. They're sweaty, they're bloody.
JR: Rock with those rights.
And Rock's lost a lot of blood here.
He's going to be losing a lot more strength from that blood loss,
thanks to Triple H and that vile, vile chair shot just a few minutes ago.
Uh-oh.
Now, Rock, if he pulls this out, it'll be a miracle.
But if anybody can do it, it's The People's Champion. It's The Rock.
JERRY: He's a miracle man, all right. But, JR, with 6:57 left,
I don't think there are that many miracles left for The Rock.
If Triple H somehow gets one more fall, it's definitely over. Uh-oh.
JR: Triple H down. And The Rock...
JERRY: Look out! Oh!
JR: The Rock catapulted Triple H face-first into the ring post.
Steel meets skull,
at six and a half minutes left.
The Rock's got to get two falls.
Remember, a tie. A tie is as good as a win for the champion.
JERRY: Yeah, but it takes two to tie at this point, JR. Two to tie.
JERRY: Oh, look out.
JR: That was a huge move.
A huge move at this point in the match for Triple H to reverse The Rock.
JERRY: Oh, look at the time, Rock. You are gonna have to get back in the ring.
JR: The Rock trying to get the feeling back in that right arm.
We are under six minutes. Under six minutes,
with Triple H up two falls, five to three.
JERRY: He's done it. Triple H has done it.
JR: Triple H can shut down the offense, it would seem.
JR: Put the thing into delay...
JERRY: Hey, wait a minute. Triple H...
JR: I don't...
JERRY: What are you doing? He just pulled out my monitor.
JR: Come on! He pulled out mine too.
JERRY: I don't either.
JR: It's not that we can't work without a monitor, but...
JERRY: I can't work without a monitor. I have no idea...
JERRY: I'm leaving.
JR: Right hand. The Rock is in a helpless state here.
Rock... Rock down on our table.
Triple H has set the table to destroy The Rock.
JERRY: What's gonna happen here?
JR: My God, what a war this has been.
JERRY: This is it for The Rock.
JR: Less than five minutes to go.
JERRY: He's going to Rock Bottom!
JR: It'll be all... No, wait! The Rock fighting back!
Triple H was going to use the Rock Bottom!
JERRY: No!
JR: Oh, my God!
The table didn't break!
But Triple H's skull may have cracked right on the table.
JERRY: Watch it.
JR: My God, that was like a car crash.
The Game's face bouncing off the table that did not break.
JERRY: Shawn Michaels is trying to tell him, "Four minutes left."
JERRY: Look at The Rock.
JR: And Shawn Michaels using his count.
Triple H, his face has been battered into our table,
(CROWD COUNTING)
Six!
JERRY: Triple H, you're getting counted out.
JERRY: He's at nine.
Ten!
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
The Rock is down one at 3:50.
FINKEL: The winner of the fall, as a result of a count-out, The Rock.
JR: Well, as The Rock was bleeding earlier, Triple H is bleeding profusely here.
(CROWD BOOING)
JR: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. The damn McMahons are back.
JERRY: This should help you get through the last three and half minutes.
JR: Triple H said he wanted to do it by himself,
and maybe he did, and maybe he does.
But why are the McMahons back?
JERRY: I don't know, but Triple H is a bloody mess.
He's in horrible shape.
JR: We're surrounded by a pool of Triple H's blood here.
He may be counted out again.
JERRY: Three minutes and 10 seconds.
JR: Triple H is in danger of being counted out again.
JR: He's at the five.
Seven!
Eight!
Nine!
JR: And The Game is back in.
Can The Game hold on for two minutes and 50 seconds?
Look at those rights from The Rock, he's laying the smackdown,
a rush of adrenaline!
The 28-year-old WWF Champion almost beheaded The Game.
JERRY: Oh, my gosh.
JR: They take it to another gear here with two and half minutes left.
The Rock's got to get a decision.
DDT! A DDT!
JR: Shane McMahon.
Shane McMahon up, and Vince knocked down.
Spinebuster! Spinebuster!
JERRY: Here it is, JR.
This is what The Rock needed.
JR: 17,000 on their feet, DX is at ringside, too.
JERRY: It's the most electrifying move, The People's Elbow. He hit it!
One, two, three!
JR: It's tied up.
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
FINKEL: The winner of the fall, The Rock.
JERRY: We got less than two minutes. Look at this.
JR: Shane McMahon pulling Shawn Michaels out of the ring.
JERRY: They are nose to nose, JR. What's gonna happen?
JR: Shawn Michaels just knocked down Shane.
JERRY: And Vince!
JR: Shawn Michaels' right hand on Vince McMahon.
JERRY: Linda, what have you done with the McMahons, look at this.
JR: We're tied with a minute-thirty to go in this hellacious war.
JERRY: Road Dogg's in the ring. Here comes X-Pac.
JR: There's no referee. Shawn's back.
Oh, God almighty! Shawn Michaels face-first.
(REST IN PEACE PLAYING)
JERRY: What is this?
JR: The Rock is being pummeled in the ring.
The Rock is four-on-one in the ring.
JR: Shawn Michaels has been hurt.
What the hell?
JERRY: Oh, my God!
JR: My God, it's the Undertaker.
JERRY: What?
JR: It's the Undertaker.
He's coming for McMahon, you got to believe, or is he?
JERRY: Yes!
JR: The Undertaker is whooping ***!
JERRY: Ah!
JR: Chokeslam to hell.
JERRY: Look out, Vince!
Get away! Oh!
JR: Right hand by the Undertaker knocking McMahon out.
Oh, my God, it's carnage.
The Undertaker is destroying...
JERRY: Stephanie!
JERRY: Stephanie!
JR: Triple H saving his wife.
JERRY: Look at the time. Look at this.
JR: No. Look out! Don't do it.
Shawn Michaels. That was a chokeslam.
(BUZZER SOUNDING)
JERRY: Tombstone! Tombstone!
JR: It's already over.
JERRY: What's happened?
JR: I think Shawn Michaels was trying to tell the Undertaker
not to chokeslam The Game.
Not only did the Undertaker chokeslam The Game, he gave him a piledriver.
(CROWD CHEERING)
(INAUDIBLE)
JR: What is the decision here?
JERRY: Wait a minute, did you hear?
FINKEL: Ladies and gentlemen,
as a result of a disqualification due to outside interference,
the winner of the fall,
Triple H.
Therefore the winner of the match
and new World Wrestling Federation Champion,
(MY TIME PLAYING)
JR: Oh, man, that's a heartbreaker.
That's a heartbreaker.
I saw Shawn Michaels trying to reason with the Undertaker,
but that wasn't going to happen.
JERRY: And, JR, not only that, I think the clock had expired.
I think the time had expired.
JR: You might be right.
JERRY: I got to question this myself.
I thought the Undertaker got the chokeslam in during the time.
I thought that's what the disqualification was for.
JERRY: I could have sworn I heard the buzzer to signal the end of the match.
JR: And you might be right.
The Rock has lost the WWF Title
in another night that is filled with controversy.
Triple H is the WWF Champion.
Triple H is the King of the Ring.
This is just not right.
