Valery Shnyakin, member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation
I want to recall the words of the last Secretary of State who resigned, Mrs. Clinton:
she noted that "we will not tolerate any reconstruction of the Soviet period in whatever guise
– the Customs Union, the Eurasian space or anything else."
Thus, despite her incorrect speech, she gave us a good assessment.
I believe, for those who live in the former Soviet space
and who are actively involved in the integration processes at regional level,
first of all, I think she told us: "Guys, you have chosen the right direction."
Preparing for this meeting, I looked through various information sources,
including Ukrainian ones, and I am even going to cite them here:
the influential Ukrainian businessman and politician Renat Akhmetov,
Yatsenyuk, I do not know what he is,
the deputy Mihachkov called for a boycott of Russian goods,
for increasing tensions and openly declaring a trade war.
Renat Akhmetov said that "we shall be victorious and strong after this war."
God forbid that this will come true.
I recall one such moment.
In Russia this year a law prohibiting politicians, government officials
and law enforcement officers to have accounts, stocks and real estate abroad came into force.
I have a question the answer to which is, perhaps, known to everyone:
where are the real estate, stocks, all the rest of these influential Ukrainian owners?
Where will they watch, and where are all their aspirations directed?
Of course, to the west.
I would like to briefly mention one more thing: no one doubts where we are.
This year, there were a lot of different economic forums.
And the estimate was that we are in an active phase of the global crisis,
a crisis of globalization, political or economic risk.
And what happened to some countries?
I will mention the Baltic States: I believe that they have bought a ticket to "Titanic".
Let me explain why. I’ll speak about the population of these republics.
I have some data from the internet from the beginning of the 1990s to 2011,
when the census took place: as of January 1, 2013, the population decreased by between 13% and 19%.
If in Ukraine, according to my data, the decrease has been a little more than 100,000 of the population,
in these republics, where there are far fewer people, the population decreased enormously.
For example, Latvia takes first place in Europe regarding mortality and immigration and everything else.
It is clear why I spoke about a ticket on the “Titanic".
The people are dying off.
Maybe someone will say that the West is flourishing, but I don’t think this is true. 39 00:04:13,300 --> 00:04:18,000 In conclusion, I would like to cite one figure.
As for the fact that Ukraine will sign the agreement, I do not doubt it.
Since no one will ask the Ukrainian people, there will be appropriate conditions,
and we should now remember one thing - to send Yulia Tymoshenko to be treated in the West.
Trust me, the vector then will be changed to another direction.
It is a fact that they will come back.
But the most interesting thing is that we all remember, including me,
that we were told that by such and such a year we would build communism,
and, though I was a young communist, I did not know what it was.
I do not know whether the Ukrainians understand that they will sign the document,
but that's not the European Union.
And when will they be in the European Union?
Again a decade or two decades, I do not know how much time, will pass and we will live,
and everything will be good and fine.
If Ukraine joined the CU, look, there would be a cycle of
production - distribution - service - utilization, which would be completely closed,
because there will be more than 200 million there, and that says a lot.
I cite these figures.
And I’ll tell you about one more fact from the customs officers:
today Ukraine, referring to a trade war, who started it and who is in the active phase,
Ukraine ranks after the EU and America in third place
regarding obstacles to the advancement of Russian goods.
