Hello and welcome everybody to another segment
of LiveExpertInterviews.tv. My name is Steve Young and
thanks for joining us. Today we're talking about a very important topic
and that is how to find the best restoration contractor
Today joining us, our expert is Brian Johns
from Saint Petersburg, Florida. Bryan, thanks for joining us today
Thanks for having me Steve.
Absolutely. So the first question, the burning question in everybody's mind
when they're in a world of hurt and they need help alright
how does somebody , well first of all, you've been in this business for many years,
how does somebody has been in business for many years what advice would you
give to somebody
to go online in finding a good restoration contractor
Maybe the top three things
Check credentials Steve first and foremost check up on the company that you're hiring
I'll check the internet through their resources that are available
whether it's in reviews or check the local government
or state agencies that will have
information relating to complaints that have been filed
and there they can be very helpful
in that process
you know
secondly make some phone calls
as well. Once you've seen some reviews
I try and verify some of these reviews. Try and talk to some people
in the industry. Find out about the company that you're potentially looking
to hire
it's very important. I talk to some other people that you know even
and find out if they have experiences with these companies
Great I love it
So obviously want to check their certifications,
with the state so forth make sure they're qualified.
Did you mention experience on there, what type of experience do they have
or maybe they have some before and after photos on their website might help
would you say? I certainly would. Also
check with the check the associations that govern
the industry. The Restoration Association
The RIAA, there's also the
IICRC. They're the governing bodies that provide the education
for the certification so they have web sites you can check up on their experts
as well
and utilize at as a resource Excellent I like that. So obviously you wanna check their
reputation the reviews you can do that on sites like Google and Yelp very easily
that's the beginning of your process and then what you said
one you've met with those, check their references
and make sure you make a few phone calls. What would you say are the biggest mistakes
when somebody hires a restoration contractor. Maybe one or two biggest
mistakes people make
out when they hire restoration contractor are
I would say jumping the gun
And here's the scenario: you have a loss
at your home. Whether it's water, fire, vehicle
et cetera its it's not a planned event
you were you are in a mental state
that it's unexpected, it's traumatic and
and now you're your stuck and you're scrambling to try and
and find a solution. In the case of a fire
you'll have 06/07/12 people showing up your door
at your door with the contract in hand typically used you'll hear them
promising you the world
and what people end up doing at that point is
they don't wanna deal with it themselves
and they want to trust the really good salesman its promising them everything
so when I would suggest is stop, reflect
make a clear decision. Check up on verifiable references
of these companies.
That is excellent and sound advice
I can totally relate to that when you're in a crisis situation
and you just want it fixed and then at the end of the deal
you know you've had a bad experience and you feel like you've been taken
I mean that's what I've know a little bit about. My experience
with that type of situation. Has that happened often?
That is unfortunately a reality in the industry
Because what we're up against
is we have some contractors that unfortunately they're not
really interested in restoring your home properly
they're interested in nothing but their bottom line
and that even speaks to you their contractual language
and what they have in their contract. A lot of times
people in our culture they don't take the time to read a contract
They just, they skim through it, they trust
and they say "Oh, it must be fine they're professional"
the problem that we run into is you're going through traumatic situation
you then have a piece a paper, a document presented to you
and then we run into an assignment of benefits clause and a power of attorneys
clause that's within a contract
we sign that and then what happens is you signed your rights to that insurance
clause
over to a company that you don't really know
you haven't verified their references and now you're stuck
because what will happen is if you have a gap between what's the
real amount to restore to pre loss condition should be
and what the amount of money that this company it really isn't looking out for
your best interest is writing
will they're gonna come back to you when you're still on hook for
and if they're not a company of integrity that will write an estimate
that's fair and accurate pre loss condition they're only interested in themselves
then it just ends up being a really bad situation for the consumer
Wow I can totally understand why somebody wanna
stop and do their due diligence and check
to make sure companies at the go - they have integrity and they got a good reputation
with good reviews. You know let me ask you something real quick. If somebody did
come to you
Brian, and they were looking for a restoration contractor
what type of an experience could they expect
They can expect an experience of integrity
of accountability. And you're
going to get the truth always the truth
we take the time to explaining the process to you
so you don't have questions
we guide you along the processes
as if your home is our home
we care about you. The point is if you're going to be in business
you should give benefit to the people that you provide a service to
if you're not in business to be a benefit then you shouldn't be in that
business
Wow that kinda says it all. I like that a lot
So we kinda touched on that a little bit but because of
your expertise
can you take a minute and explain to us you know how is your business different
than the other ones out there, the other restoration contractors out there if you
would please
Okay well we're a pretty diverse company
where highly educated, highly certified company. All the people that work
as team members of Trinicon
we are continuously going to two new certifications and no matter what level
you are within the company we are constantly educating our people
so they are better and better and better and and more knowledgeable
at what they do so we do something we're doing it with quality and
professionalism
and we have the expertise to be able to explain the science
explain the process we know what we're talking about
we're not just taking some words throwing them together
and hoping you don't know what you're talking about
Got it. I like that a lot. I know you mentioned to me earlier you like to treat
your customers as family and
I'm in that's how do you like to be treated that's the reason that you
you know you you have such a good reputation and so forth
Talk to me just about that
well personally I believe
that we're blessed with time
the point is, being blessed with time
we're here to make an impact in the dealings that we have with people
and that impact should be a positive impact
so when I speak to
treating people as their family that extends to everyone
point is if I'm coming out to provide a service for you in your home
or your property or your business I'm there to be
a positive impact. I'm there so that when you walk away from that experience
because it wasn't planned and it was probably traumatic
you walking away from it saying you know what I went through this
but because of Trinicon, because of Brian Johns the people that
work with Brian this was a positive experience as a whole
I like that a lot. I like the fact that you take that care. You provide your clients
with that family care and attention so that's fantastic. Now I know you
mentioned to me that you do
some very special things for new customers. What exactly do you do?
Well quite often we have people that will call us in need
and there's a lot of companies out there that will
they'll charge you to evaluate things in one thing that we do is
if you have moisture issues, you don't know if you have mold
you're scared of the possible fungal growth that's going on
you can give us a call. We'll come out, we'll do some moisture meter readings
we'll take some
hygrometer readings, we'll tell you if your indoor environment is
at levels that it should be
and give you some peace of mind
I love it. Well there you go viewers
We learned a lot about how to find the
best restoration contractor. Brian Johns from Saint Petersburg Florida
