A 13 year old girl is recovering in Sydney after being shot in the back in an attack
police believe was meant for her brother.
According to officials, shots were fired when three men tried to get into a house in West
Sydney and argued with the people inside. This neighbour heard the attack.
Around 11 o'clock I heard four gunshots and straight after the gunshots I heard a lady
screaming and then there was a guy yelling and then ten minutes later I heard the ambulance
come and I thought 'this is serious'.
New South Wales Premier Barry O'Farrell gave this angry response after the teenager's family
refused to give police any information.
Her parents are not cooperating with police. What sort of parent whose daughter has been
injured in an attack like this will not cooperate with police?
Investigators think the shooting may be gang related and Deputy Police Commissioner Nick
Kalas says they are investigating possible connections with similar incidents in recent
weeks.
This type of incident is outrageous obviously. We've all been saying for some time that if
you keep shooting at houses, if you keep shooting randomly, sooner of later some innocent person
will be hit.
According to reports, the young girl is now in a stable condition.
